Default BEWARE when posting your.....

pictures with your PLATE NUMBERS ON YOUR VETTE !!!!

Corvettes are being taken/stolen out of home garages.
The "Pro's / criminals" have access to MTO information !

I personally arrested "break and enter" thieves with a list of items including several cars & corvettes. That list contained items with their respective location.(your adresses). I've checked several addresses and some were already hit/confirmed victims ! These guys at their group meetings, find potential buyers for stolen items and plan from there ! They even had the spare keys.

Those guys are the professionals and not just the "around the corner bad guys" ! The big league.
The sad part is, whatever alarm system you have, they are trained to disable. And certainly not intimidated by police presence.

For your info !

Out of curiousity, have you found any C6s stolen (without a flatbed), i.e., have they figured out how to steal the car without the owner's FOB?

this sounds well and good,,,,but I really do not buy into the fact that these "pros" are going on line and searching forums for pics of cars with license plates and then searching. Most of us can be found,at a cruise,in a corvette coral,at a gta.I think there are lots of ways they can gain information and this may be just one of them or not.
The biggest deterrent would be to have a police force capable of doing more then the paperwork, after the fact. This is not a slam, but it reality.Seems we are more concerned with sucking money out of joe public, then actually stopping crime and violence,,,,,but it is what it is,,,,,,

Pretty much any open public parking lot/driveway is a target. But I do agree about the alarm systems. Pro's will get your car no matter what. Alarm systems have always been there to deter the amateur thief. The ones that take 4-5 times or more than a pro to steal a car.

All of our house have had the garage door and all access doors included in the alarm system. Trust me it is worth it. The garage door has only a short amount of time delay before alerting the monitoring station so we have to be pretty fast. I know that this little detail might/could have saved the Z06 recently stolen.

cut phone line first,no call out,no one pays attention to an alarm any more.So when it goes off disable it.There is no stopping a pro.We have an alarm and pay for monitoring, mostly for insurance purposes, and peace of mind.

I attend a LOT of shows and my car has been SNAPPED a few times, maybe they are stalking car shows also.

If they want it come and get it. I am not losing sleep over it..

PROS will get it as Rick stated. Locks and alarms are to keep your friends out..

just an opinion

If the criminals have access to MTO information and systems then they already know the makes of the cars and our addresses. No pictures required.

You can get house alarm systems with wireless backup, calls if the alarm is tripped and cannot get a dialtone.
Some are exclusive wireless, that being said, if they want it bad enough they will get it nothing you can do.

Hey they're working on it, but they're a little busy hassling the people in car rallies and doing seatbelt checks in between enforcing the artificially low speed limits.

If anyone wants to target your car, they will. Any of us could be just driving down the street and be a target. How do you protect yourself from that?

The one thing I do to try and protect myself is to cover my dash VIN plate.

I'd bet if the MTO computers were Macs, there would not be a security breach.

HTF did they gain access to MTO information??

Guys,

I have also had the pleasure of personally pinching some of these pukes, it's not the computers that are being hacked or compromised, it's merely the fact that a lot of the MTO offices are now privately owned, therefor, the criminals get jobs there or get favours or pay someone they know who works there to get the info they're looking for.

If any of you guys are looking to do a security audit of your home, it's a side thing for me and would be happy to come over and look over things with you.

Cheers!
