Default Engine Degrease and Detail-C4

I was wondering if anyone has gone to Autobahn detailers in Concord to get their car detailed, especially a C4. Sounds like a great place and a half decent price for a full job. My friends recommended him because they heard of him through CCO. Just wondering if there is anything to know or worry about doing an engine degrease and powerwash to a C4. I have heard you have to watch for the optispark and so on. I want the car to be show ready when I take it out, engine pretty dirty right now.

Give some opinions on the place and the engine wash please or if you know or can recommend any others to look at that you personally used.

I will probably be going there because they sound very professionaland and they do high end cars, I'm sure they can handle a 94 Vette. I want to see what their special blended wax can do to a Triple Black Vert with some minor scratches and swirl marks in the paint.

Thank you for your time and comments.

On my triple black vert I use the Turtle Wax Black Box kit. It has a precleaner, carnauba wax and spray detailer. All are tinted black.

I don't pressure wash any of my engines. I use a spray degreaser and then rinse off with a hose being careful not to get too much on the sensors.

I have never used them before.
I do know they have been in business for a considerable amount of time, at least 15 years. They do some high end vehicles, Lambo and Ferrari so you would think they know their stuff.
If you do use them please post or send me a pm as I am very interested to hear how you make out. I own a 1994 coupe.

DO NOT POWERWASH your engine bay. To put into perspective, a slightly leaking waterpump can cause your Opti-Spark to fail so imagine what water from a powerwasher would do.

I don't care how detailed or experienced someone is, water and hand movements have minds of their own. One wrong move and your car is toasted. To replace an Opti-Spark you are looking at spending between 600-900 just for the part. Add labour and hitting just at or over 1k.

Pretty expensive powerwash in my mind when some elbow grease and time, you can do yourself. If you can dedicate a day or a couple hours a day, with some degreaser, cloths, heck even a vacuum for the lower frame, you make make it look amazing.

I used Simple Green in a spray bottle, shop rags, papertowel, Q-tips and microfibre. A little Mothers polish on the aluminum parts, Armoural on the rubber around the wheel wells and Meguiars Quick Detailer on the black plastic parts...shiny clean.

Was it work, yes. But I got the satisfaction of knowing I did it because, it's my car.

As I said in Randy's (Cdn UFO) post asking a similar question, I wish i still had the pictures so you could see the starting condition and the end results.

Good luck with your project.

Default somewhat worried now, can't afford more problems!!!

Thanx, I'll take the comments into consideration, would a de-greaser and a hose work, or a bucket of water and a wet rag, or is there a way to protect the optispark area from getting water?

Any other C4 guys that have had an outside source do the work for them?

I will post pics and decision when it happens.
