Default TireRack shipping to Ontario

I have the Vette in the Chev. Dealer for safety right now and they say the rear tires are down near the wear bar. These tires are Michelin Pilot Sports and they quoted me over $500.00 per tire I checked Tire Rack and they are over $200.00 less, plus $87.00 shipping to my door. For anyone who has ordered from Tire Rack, is there also duty and stuff they nail you for at the border? I know there would be HST added. I'm sure my mechanic friend would pass it but I will want to replace them anyway. Or if there is a better place in the GTA area please PM me.

Thanks

I paid exactly what tirerack.com quoted me, not a penny more. Will buy there again. No hidden fees with the UPS guy when he showed up at the door.

I have used Discount Tire Direct several times and they charge $40 a pair and cover everything. They have in the past also offered free shipping.

discounttiredirect.com
Shop around a bit most vendors understand the cross boarder process.

I have also used Discount Tire Direct . They are still offering free shipping and only charge $40 per tire for all fees/duties. Can't go wrong

@$1.45 Per/l X 450 km return, and Mary wanting to go to the Outlet Mall and the Galleria Mall, and of course having to get a Hotel for the night....I don't know if there would be a substantial difference all said.

I called and left a message with Luke. Waiting for a call back from him. I also spoke with someone at Discount Tire and he says there is no such tire available in 295-35ZR18 99Y but is going to do some more research on it and get back to me. I'd even take an excellent used pair if somone had them..

DiscountTireDirect

Work through the full scenario at both TireRack and DiscountTireDirect. I have found that the $40/tire all in for shipping at DiscountTireDirect usually brings the overall cost below TireRack even thought the Tire Rack tires themselves are cheaper.

I have used Tire Rack several times and I'm completely happy with the service. Total price was as quoted with no surprises. I have the tires drop shipped right to the shop that works on my car too.

When Tire Rack ships to your door, where do you go for installation in the GTA, who pays for the install?

Tire Rack is the best! Used them 3 times so far, no hidden fees, total known up front including all taxes and duties. With our strong dollar, no brainer.

while on the topic of tires and cross border shopping, have the prices started to come in line for daily drivers? I saved significant going to the US when I replaced my C5's (BFG KDW'2), but now shopping for replacements for my DD (flex). The tire is 235/60/18. I was shocked to see the Michelin Primacy MXV4 pricing close to par.

Can tire, $213 per (sale of $70 if purchasing all 4, so the net would be just under $200 per)

TireRack $180 - $205 per (same tire, listed twice)

Discounttire $213 per.

It just suprised me a bit as I was assuming there would be a bigger delta.

Regards, Brent

Thanks everyone. Very interested in this thread. We seem to buy too many tires, but haven't tried Tire Rack yet.
