A developing low pressure system over the central plains of the U.S. will track over Lake Huron on Friday and reach Western Quebec by Saturday morning. This system is expected to bring a significant snowfall to the Nickel Belt and Nipissing region on Friday. And that's why I'd never move to North Bay! Winter is already too long down this way (except this year!) but it's even longer up there. No thanks, I'm going to spend my winters in Florida when I retire. The older I get the more I despise cold weather and snow.

I'm with you on this. I retire in 3 yrs June 30th, my wife and I are just starting to look into southern areas to spend the winters in. Patman, have you narrowed any areas down?

It usually snows down here in the GTA around this time of year. We're lucky this year.

Don't worry Mike, the snow won't last long.

Get out and shovel, then watch it melt. Surely it won't stay very long. You can have it. Winter is over down here, I hope.

UPDATE:

White crap is still falling. No pics, camera batteries are dead, its charging.

I was in Fergus yesterday for my uncles funeral, 20*C, perfect weather, Or as my Dad used to say "Miniskirt Season". There were a few sightings!

Noooooooooo! Not now! We had nothing all winter, that's why it's going to linger, just to be annoying.

My condolences to you for your loss.

Yeah, I've heard your Dad's expression before.

Hope it clears up soon.

Just dipped below Zero. Now the snows going to accumulate. Still calling for @25cm. We'll see!?!

Snow was falling all day but it melted away...NOT NOW.........

+7 Saturday, +8 Sunday. I hope it dries up for Sunday at least.
Might be nice enough outside to clean the inside of my F150.......we'll see about that.

I'll take bugs anyday!

My fiancee and I were in St Pete Beach, FL at the beginning of January and we love that area! But we'd honestly be happy anywhere on the Gulf side. We're both 42 years old, so our retirement is about 18 years away though (she's a teacher, so our plan is for both of us to retire around age 60) but we are dead serious about living there eventually.

In my life I don't recall ever having a major snowstorm in Toronto past the middle of April. Maybe 1-2 cm at the most, but by the time we reach the third week of April we never get any major storms at all. The biggest snowfall ever in Toronto on April 20th of any year was only 2.2 cm in 1978. That's not even enough to break out the shovel.

LIVE:

Well, we didn't get the 25cm the Weather Network was calling for, thank G@D. Today is supposed to be +7 and sun, we'll see about that.

I was "volunteered" to cut firewood at my in-laws. There better be peach or apple pie there for my efforts!
