Ron Stevens passed away about 4 AM today June 1, 2012.
RIP
I've never dealt with Ron but Beaky's Corvette Corner was a treasured resource if not a fixture in the SW Ont Corvette Hobby and I'm sure he'll be missed.
I have delt with Ron many times over the years, he would let me wonder around in the back shop, when ever I visited him. It was amazing all the vette stuff he had back there, including a complete unmolested 54,hanging in the rafters. He knew so many people in the automotive industry including Mario Andretti and even Dontov himself. He was a great guy and will be sadly missed.
Not sure if it was Ron but the first parts I ever bought for my vette were from "Beaky's", up at the Barrie flea market, quite a while back now that I think about it.
Bit's and pieces here and there afterwards over the phone. Information was always a bonus.
Never a good time to loose a brother
Brian, wasn't it last year we were wondering how he was and what was happening with his business. RIP Ron, I have fond memories of Beakys from my UWO Ivey days.
He was truly a great icon in the Corvette world. Was one of the founders of our club Corvettes of Western Ontario and just recently another great Corvette guy a lot of you know Davie Brackstone also passed away, another founder to our club. I knew both very well as fellow members since the early 70s, both dedicated Corvette people.
Some times it really hurts to log on here and get bad news.
Beaky and I go back to 1976. And when we bought our 63 in 1981, the regular visits to Beaky were fun and productive on every level. He used to always laugh as he kept a running total on my Corvette purchases to let Mary Lou know how much she could spend on clothes and such.
He could be a character but he was well respected in Corvette circles and will definitely be missed.
And as a former member of CWO it is a double whammy to find that Davey Brackstone has passed. We knew that he was not well but it is still a shock.
Condolences to all and I think I will go now and raise a glass to good friends and good times past.
