Trying to understand a wierd problem with my wifes G6 (see it happen on a Malibu also) We were told that the brake lights were on whhile driving an went out when we stopped, completely opposite to the way they're supposed to work. When we got home I had my wife watch and they were working fine.
What is happening, is it something I need to fix and if I do what's causing it to do this. The brake lights used to be controlled of a switch on the brake pedal are they controlled by the body control module now?

I re-posted your question to my friend.

Wife riding the brake pedal?

I'll let you know when he gets back to me.

Google this: #08-05-22-009C
Intermittently Brake Lights (Stop Lamps) Do Not Function Correctly, Cruise Control Inop, DTCs C0131/C0161/C0277 (Perform Repair Outlined) - (Sep 30, 2010)
I believe this is what you're looking at for repairs.

Possible verification here: http://www.chevymalibuforum.com/foru...ead.php?t=2401

edit... I'm not a tech, but I am a GM parts guy. I have to search the service manuals and info all the time, hope it helps.

Thanks, that seems to be the fix that I'm seeing on a lot of the GM forums. Time to clean the connector and dig out the dielectric grease.
