Default Battery

sheeesh, seems to be one thing after another, first the plugs, then the crap wires, now it appears to be the battery, not sure if it is original, i would suspect so, if it is then i get it. started fine yesterday and this am, when to costco, came back out was loading items in my car, lad across the way had some heavy duty items that i knew he would need help with, so i offered, got him all loaded up in about 10 minutes, finished my packing, went to start, click click, wth, was p..d so i ask buddy if has cables, sure do, then we trying to figure out how to get his truck beside me, guy in front of me sees whats going on and said, need a boost. yes please, hard to still get going. click click then fired and away we go, thanke everyone and we all went on our merry way, get home upack, starts, go out later and same crap. load test says 12 volts and fades a bit, but still in green, wouldn t start with jump, click, redid a load test and 12v and faded to red, so i am assuming battery is toast. Checked the wires on the starter earlier and all snug, battery cables clean and snug, charging normal. Am thinking of just going with the Delco battery, did some research, some say redtop or yellowtop. any opinions ? Karma is good.

Opinions already being discussed in this thread. Saves from having to retype. I'm probably going to opt for the AC Delco battery as well.

Yes the Delco battery is good but the problem is it's a lead acid design. So when it's over charged or subjected to hard driving it will leak because of there design. I have had no less than four of them in my vette and the acid has eaten the paint off the frame.

My original battery in my 08 died 2 years ago. Replaced it with OEM AC Delco battery and all is good. Call Rob (Polarjet) at Addison and he can probably get you a great price on it too.

Are you sure it's the battery?

I had the same problem with my old car, turned out it was the solenoid. When the engine is hot it won't start..when the engine is cold it starts right up.

Just my 2 cents.

Are you saying the original AC Delco battery only lasted 4 years?

I am surprised these things only last 4 / 5 yrs. my C5 battery was still rockin when I sold it in 2013 and I had it 9yrs. that is why I am p...d that this one is done in 5 yrs. or less. only ever had to buy 1 battery for a car in 45 yrs. and that is for my wife s Honda 3 yrs ago. how things change, and quality goes down the tubes more and more.

The only vehicle I have had to purchased a battery for is my Corvette (4 or 5 over 27 years) and I have had good luck with AC Delco. The problem I have is the acid that leeks out of the vents.

I changed mine at 5 years, it was still as good as new but I did not want to be stranded anywhere as the battery gives no warning before it goes...

Yeah I guess so. I was surprised too as it gave no warning. Just died one day, good thing I wsn't far from home and Babyblue came to the rescue!

The C6 does have 16 (if I remember correct) on board computers, so maybe there's some parasitic draw?

Do you use a battery tender when your car is parked?

Yes I use a trickle charger for the dreaded 5 months of storage.
