Default 2015 Allottment

Looking to secure a 2015 C7(maybe z06) order for St. John's NL.

Not having much luck locally,

Anybody know of any dealerships that would ship to newfoundland?

I'm aware that orders cant be placed yet. Just looking for a good dealership to deal with....

Cheers,

Calvin

Hope you have a strong back because you'll be bending over for huge markups with all this internet hype, new model year, big change in car/hp etc.......

Good luck getting one though, hope it's the machine it's hyped up to be

I would hope there would be 0 markup on a 2015 Stingray, and also a Z06. I'm not willing to pay a Penny over MSRP...

Good luck.

Ive talked to a few dealerships in the GTA, and called both east and west coast.

They already told me that even with a bill of sale with a 2015 C7, the price will increase due to high demands etc etc etc once its ready to be delivered.

I argued with the sales guy saying, if I have a bill of sale stating a certain amount how can you increase it afterwards on me?

He just laughed and said "GM just works that way "

Some facts for those that don't know- nothing to do with GM, GM sells at the same price to all dealers at deadcost (less than invoice), it's the dealers that do the gouging.

Now, if anyone is interested, my long time neighbor with 30+ years experience at Courtesy Chev in Etobicoke told me tonight they are getting 5-6 Z's allocated and believe 4 are spoken for......may be one left. All will be sold at full list, no discount and price is unknown

Oh....and by the way, yes a bill of sale is a legally binder contract- you get one, add additional wording, i.e.' no markups or not to exceed msrp' - both sides sign and you're protected

Hey Red,

Thanks for the reply, do you know if Courtesy Chev in Etobicoke would ship me a new C7 in 2015?

Any contact Info for your neighbor?

Thanks

Call in, ask for Joe Melino. Shipping should not be an issue, courtesy should have those connections or you can set it up.

Allotment on Z06 has not been released, anyone saying otherwise is, uh, inaccurate...

A bill of sale is a binding agreement, for the existing model year, so long as the order is placed with GM. If you order a 2015 Stingray Z06, and don't get until the 2016 model year, you will have to pay 2016 price, but if you get a 2015, and the order was placed at a particular price, you are protected from price increases by GM. The dealer may try to collect it, but that is the dealer, not GM.

PM me for more info..

As you know, nothing at this point is accurate.....I posted what he told me - his area rep. told them, "looks like you may be getting 5-6 Z's as your allotment". They have signed deposits on 4.

Better off waiting for hype to die off and negotiating the best price, rather than paying mark-up or sticker.

2016/17 would be best time to buy.

With all due respect, I have never understood this thinking, honestly.

We all know that prices rise over time, so even if you can get a discount in two years, it is rarely enough to overcome the price increase from now to then. So, you have denied yourself the pleasure of driving a car for 2 years, and end up paying the same or more for it. Now, maybe there are upgrades on the car over those 2 years, maybe, although usually that just results in the price going up even more But lets assume that the price stays the same for, let's say, the data recorder that has been added for 2015. And of course, you will have a 2016-17, so someone will say resale is better, but it isn't... If you get a '15, and drive it for 5 years, you will get relatively the same for it as a '16, or a '17 after 5 years...You just have the car quicker.. Now, for the Z06, it may not be relevant, because most of us aren't going to get a '15, even if we want it, due to availability.

Use the base Stingray as an example. Back last summer, if you bought a base car for 51K, roughly, everyone was saying you should wait until this year and get a deal. Well, here we are. There is no availability, very few deals, oh, and the price went up 2K in March, so it is actually more expensive now than it was last fall, AND you aren't driving a car right now, unlike most of those that ordered cars last year. If you are waiting for a 2015, it will likely go up another 2K, still little in the way of "deals" (aside from the car being a screaming deal on it's own), and you still won't be driving a car until next spring or late this fall... Now, the 8 speed transmission for 2015 might be worth the wait, of course, and worth the 4-5K more, maybe, but maybe not... And you still have lost a year of driving.

As I have said before, one of my favourite quotes is:

Everyone can earn more money, but not even the wealthiest among us can buy more time....

I wasn't suggesting that you were being inaccurate, only that the comment was. Area reps have no more idea at this point than sales guys on the floor in terms of allotment on Z06, so any numbers are a flat out guess... Is it an educated guess? Maybe, but no more than that...

My understanding is that production on the Z06 will be south of 5K cars for 2015 model year, which is about 1/7 of 2014 production. So an educated guess would be that a dealer might get about 1 Z06 for every 7 Stingrays that they got for 2014.. That would suggest that 5-6 would be a tad optimistic for almost any dealer, save the handful of BIG volume Corvette dealers, of which they are not one..

As an example, in 2006, when the C6Z came out, Wilson Niblett, far and away the #1 volume Corvette dealer in the country at that time, got 9 or 10 of them for the year. That was in a full year's production, not half a year, and in a much different allocation environment for Canada than we have currently. And, they had a significantly larger allotment at that time than any of the existing GM dealers in the GTA have currently, themselves included.

Will the dealer in question get 5 Z06's for 2015? Maybe.... But, if they already have 4 signed deals with deposits, then it is no more than a maybe that they will get another one, and by the time you find out, you won't get one from anyone else either.

In case anyone thinks I am being self-serving in this, let me tell you, I can't get you a 2015 Z06 anymore. A 2016, maybe, but not a 2015.

Alright, buy it now, take with it all the issues of the first model year.

There's a reason why 2005 C6's are the most undesirable. I'd say the same thing about the first model year of the Z06 and the valves, but GM never did fix that problem.

Oh wait, I just remembered my '06 has that ignition switch...8 year old car being recalled. I GTG.

It's your money, you spend it how you see fit.

I won't be able to afford a new Z06, so like I said, I'll wait two years for the hype to die down and buy a used one for less.

Who says that? Nothing wrong with the 2005s at all, they are just as reliable as the other years. I've owned many first year models of cars and it's luck of the draw really, but car makers have come a long way since the early days when a new model was a lemon. The 2014s are great cars, and if I had the money I would buy one in an instant instead of waiting for 2015 or 2016.

I just ordered my 2015 from Humberview Chevrolet today. I researched many dealers and what they sold vs delivered last year...Humberview apparently sold close to 20 last year and delivered all. They have requested their first allotment of 15's and am told they have been assured ten already. I am number 4 so they will get you a car..with an order Asap.

Good guys to deal with...

3 of the last 4 cars I bought were first year models and I bought them new - I have not seen any difference whatsoever and would not hesitate to every buy a first year model

Just to clarify, you think first year cars are less reliable than later years, so you are going to wait two years for the warranty to almost expire on them, then buy them? And you think that will save you money?

Besides, ask anyone who bought an '06 C6Z in '07 how much it saved them. They usually bought it because they couldn't find a new one, and usually paid pretty close to what they cost new in '06...

If you can't afford a new Z06 in '15, it is not going to be that easy to afford one used in a year or two, but I wish you the best in finding it. However, as the discussion was about buying a NEW C7Z, I don't think advice to wait to save money is valid.

'05 C6's are not undesirable, in fact many would argue they are more desirable than '06 models due to the new transmission in '06 having some hiccups. '05's are cheaper than '06s in general, but that is just because they are a year older...

Spoke to the guys at Dueck's yesterday. I was no. 5 on the standby list for 2004. I'm now no.5 on the list for the 2015 with 14 others!!
They fully expect that they will telling people they are on the list for 2016 in a very short time.
They already have more requests (~6) for the Z06 then they will get(~3).
