The mid engine concept has been coming out since the '60s - anyone remember the Aerovette c/w wankel mid engine and digital controls that made the car show rounds from '70 - '73?
Oh man, not the round light debate again.
Styles change. This concept is very angular, (like the C7) Round tail lights don't go on a car with so many angles.
[QUOTE=Zeeman28a;1588050010]MID Engine. Not rear engine. There is a difference.
Doubt a V8 would work well at the very rear. Although, I have seen it tried.
Is the engine behind the driver? Yes! Except for Concept cars, has Chevrolet manufactured a Vette with the Engine behind the driver?. Blasphemy.
Today's Modern Porsches are far more mid engine than what you refer to as rear.
Bottom line, this means better acceleration off the line, or out of a corner, especially if you are driving a car that is RWD. Hence the new design for the C8, IMHO.
I'm finally warming up to the C7 especially with the new Z06, now this?!?
If the C8 Duntov concept were to become a reality, I agree with Stan and would definately wait...
Engine in the Back!!
Isn't that where those P Cars have their Engines?.....
P cars have a back seat (even if it's only good for groceries). If Porsche eliminated the back seat they could move the engine forward and make the 911 a real mid-engine like the Boxster and Cayman.
If not for all the nannies on a 911 there is no way the average person could drive one with the higher power levels cars make these days.
