To be honest the Gopro thread gave me the idea. Anyway, confessions aside, I'm thinking of getting my first dashcam that may double up as a general track cam. Something I can leave in the car permanently (wired to the rear view mirror perhaps) without worry of petty theft.
Not looking at a go pro for obvious reasons:
1. Too valuable to leave
2. Awkward mounting that's very visible
From a little research I'm leaning towards:
1. Mobius - ~$100, lots of apps/tools for it, open platform (wide lens)
2. SJ5000+ - $150, almost a cheap go pro
Just read an article, in the Toronto Star Wheels Section that Garmin has come out with a GPS with a dash cam also with a very long record time .Do a Garmin search I suppose.
I have an ojocam pro. the cable which is included is long enough to mount the camera rite underneath youre rearview mirror and tuck the cable under the headliner, down the a pillar and under the dash coming out to your 12v outlet. I love it. I usually speed so I shut the speedo off incase anything happens incase I need to use the video as evidence. I think I paid like $150 with a 8gb chip. I do not know how to post pictures to show, but I have pics on my phone.

Lots of cams have GPS and at $200 it's a borderline theft magnet for a permanent dashcam. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Anyone else running a better quality cam permanently?
