Default HSD Coilover Install at Champion Motors

Purchased a 2002 C5 earlier this year.
Still had the original Active Handling shocks, which was obvious when driving the car.

First mod I had committed to was coilovers.
I've installed Pfadt coilovers on both my C6Z and C5Z I've owned previously, so you could say I've got a high standard when it comes to my Vettes handling/suspension. Not to mention, I found the Vette was sitting too high in the front.

This time around, especially with the exchange, I just didn't want to spend $2500+ dollars on a set of coilovers.

Did some research, and HSD to the rescue! (Noticed a mention for these coilovers on a post a few months ago).
They make coilovers for our Vettes at about half the price of what a set of Pfadt would run you.
Now I'm a firm proponent on 'you get what you pay for' so I was hesitant at first.
But I figured for the price, it was worth a try.
So I had Rob at Champion order me a set, and had them installed on Friday.

I set the rebound and coils to about 40% from the softest setting on all 4 shocks.

HSD Coilovers for C5 and C6

After the install, we tech2'd and removed the computer's monitoring of the active suspension.

So I've been driving the car now for two days, and I'm pleasantly surprised.
To be honest, I think I like the feel of these coilovers more than the Pfadt's.
No squeaks or creaks, firm but creamy ride. Not sure if this makes sense, but I find the ride even more comfortable now.
Car regains its composure almost immediately on road irregularities, unlike the slow sloppy stock shocks.
I still need to fine-tune the settings and ride-height, and an alinement when it's all said and done, so it's only going to get better from where it is now.

So for those of you looking for an inexpensive coilover solution, the HSD solution is your ticket!

Wanted to thank Rob at Champion for getting me in quick for the install, and Chris for his meticulous work!

p.s. Just had Rob order me a Magnuson Hearbeat Supercharger. Stay tuned!

They're a nice coil, they've been well established in the import world for awhile. I'd trust the quality just as much as LG or Pfadt.

Both mine and my buddies car are running the same setup.

Nice ride height! Just don't have the nerve to go that low.

Hi tlaselva,
Which fitment did you go with as the ones listed on the HSD site is for a 2005+ C5/C6 (part number HSDC02)?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, those are the ones.

HSD never bothered to go through the trouble to confirm that they fit the C5's.

Since C5/C6 shocks are interchangeable, and some people on the forum have gone with this solution, figured they'd fit w/o issue as I've experienced.

Thanks! Takes the guesswork out of figuring out which ones to order. Can I ask where you sourced them from?

HSD and Stance are the same coilover. They're made in the same factory then painted a different color and branded differently.

Does anyone know the weight savings when switching to coil overs?
By eliminating the leaf springs and shocks I have read you save about 30lbs total.

I didn't weigh the shocks, but I'd be surprised if it's that much.
The coilovers are a bit heavier than the oem shocks, which are offset by removal of the springs.

Having said that, 30lbs is a non-issue when you make 900rwhp!

Still have them on the Vette. Just as happy with them as I was when installed.

HSD has my stamp of approval, even 5 years later.

Was able to get a perfect ride height with the CCW Drag pack.
