Road trip - Vancouver area (advice needed)
Hey guys,
I'm planning my next road trip and would love to get some recommendations, advice, etc. .
I'll be headed up from Southern California > through Seattle > to Vancouver in June.
Once in Vancouver i'll have 4-5 days --> i'm looking for recommendations on scenic roads, routes, attractions, etc
This will be my first time up and i'll have the C7z.
Thanks!

I drove from San Fransisco to Vancouver way back in 97.
I took Hwy. 1 for a bit but mostly the Interstate.
The drive is pretty picturesque through Oregon.
If you like planes the Boeing Air Museum is a must in Seattle.
In Vanvouver downtown traffic can be bad.
North Vancouver Marine Drive is nice (city driving you can't drive to fast)
You can take Marine Drive to Horseshoe Bay and grab a bite.
Take the Sea-Sky Highway and head to Whistler/Blackcomb. You can rent mountain bikes and head to the top of the mountain.
I see you're from Ca. so you probably know how to head up the coast.
Hopefully someone from B.C. will give you more advice.

Agree with everything Brian71 suggested... We lived there for a couple of years so here's my thoughts:
- park the car and take the harbor taxi around to various points of interest such as granville island... fun way to get around and see the city. Highly recommend a stop at "Go Fish".
- drive up Mount Seymour as the view is fantastic or gondola up Grouse Mountain and have lunch with a view
- Sea-to-Sky is a great road trip (emerald green water), but depending on your time the #3 from Hope to Osoyoos (Canada's only desert) is spectacular too. Bridal Falls is just off the highway on the way.
- This isn't cheap, if you have spare cash, taking Harbour Air from Vancouver to Victoria is fun. Victoria is a beautiful place to walk around for the day. These are float planes so you land in the respective harbours... I used it a lot and if you get the single Otter or Beaver, you can ask to sit in the co-pilot seat for a bird's eye view.
- Cannon Beach in Oregon is a nice place to stopover... nothing like the of Haystack Rock with a fire on the beach watching the sun set!

Melting Slicks
We just did that in my link below... Followed the Coast up the PCH and crossing right to Crater Lake in Oregon is pretty spectacular and the we cut left south of Portland (I dont like busy roads) followed the waterway and crossed to Vancouver Island at Port Angeles. If you have the time, the absolute best you will see of BC is Sea to Sky Hwy 99. We traded that in to visit family and friends but I wish i would have had that extra day.

FA.....
Brian, gasPeddle and AF have listed most of the high points for cruising around Vancouver..
Sea-to-Sky highway up to Whistler is a must see..
A couple of hours of the best driving in N.A.!!
Lots to do up there..Could be done in a day but best to spend at least one night.
Locally Grouse Mountain...is a great way to see the city from up-high.
Cruising downtown Robson street and Stanley park are good fun.
Cruising down to White Rock Beach is a great afternoon or evening.
Getting over to Vancouver Island can be fun..2 days recommended.
Manning Park is only a few hours away as well. this will get you into the mountains a bit.
Jasper National Park is 8 hours of spirited driving away..But a sight to behold...! That will place you right into the Rockies between BC & Alberta.

A decent loop is to continue on the Sea to Sky past Whistler to Lillooet down 12 to 1 (Trans Canada) through Hells Gate and eventually back into Vcr. As teenagers in the early 70's we would do rat runs on our motorcycles from Horseshoe Bay to Whistler. We'd give our friends who had Tr's or MGs btn a 5 and 10 minute headstart and time how long it would take us to pass them. The hwy was much different then, not as "refined" as it is now.
