Default Headers and e-test

Been thinking about getting a set of headers and x-pipe for my 97 c5. The thing holding me back is Southern Ontarios emissions standards. With the recent changes to the program, my 97 is the last year they actually do the dyno test. Has anyone had any issues with etest after installing headers? Not sure how well it would do with different cats aside from OEM.

As long as you install cat's you'll be good to go.

My last toy, after changing the cats it kept throwing p0420 codes for low catalyst efficiency. Should I expect a check engine light with the Vette too?

Not an expert, but if the cat's are good and hot when you take it in, the efficiency should be better.

My 98 easily passed the tailpipe test with headers before they changed to an OBDII port test.

You can get codes like that, but if tuned right those codes will be turned off as well.

Is your car tuned? If so, where was it done?

Still looking into this. Might go with shorties and keep the OEM cats.

Before the change over to ODB2 only for 98 up, I was passing the dyno test with my cammed, headers, 98 camaro.

The key is to have cats installed AND a good tune. Without the tune, it will be hard to pass. The tune required should be done on the street to better dial it in, the dyno tune doesn't do much for street conditions.

You'll gain so little power that shorties are hardly worth the time and money.

Long tube and decent quality high flow cats will pass if tuned right.

I had ARH x pipe and high flow cats on my supercharged 03z06. Paased Ontario e-test no problem. Tuned by Kevin at Champion motors

Check out performance shops in Michigan seeing as your close. Lots of great shops there like Katech and Lingenfelter.

When I had headers installed on my '02 Camaro years back, I didn't run the rear set of O2 sensors, which would have thrown a code, so I had a shop program out the rear sensors altogether. The front set of O2 sensors are what control your air/fuel. The rear set provide the data for "catalytic efficiency". By deleting the rear set, that's no longer an issue.
