Default Request for GTA test drive

Hi Guys (and girls)

I'm about to buy a 2015 z51 the way I wanted it spec'd out. I previously test drove a 2014 manual z51 with MRC, but had it in tour the whole time.

Only caveat is that I originally really wanted the magnetic ride, the vehicle in question to be purchased does not have it and I don't know if this needs to be a deal breaker for me.

Looking for and hoping that someone could take me (or ideally let me) go for a quick drive with someone with a Z51 without MRC, or with (as we could just put it in sport). Would like to figure out if z51 without MRC is too harsh, or whether it's not something I should worry about too much. Another plus would be if it had the 8 speed, but everything I've read is that it's a great automatic, as far as automatic's go. Not a joy-ride, I have a pending deal, I can promise a tasty dinner free for you for your time and hassle.

All the best,

walleyejack thanks for the tip. Sorry maybe if I was unclear. The car I would buy is z51 without magnetic ride, which would mean I'd have the firmer suspension setting all the time. Any thoughts if you had to ride around in sport all the time?

I have a 14 Z51 without mag ride and I could tell you this. I had a 2011 Carbon Z06 with mag ride and the 14 is 100% better. My wife could also tell you as she came out for a cruise yesterday and loved it. She couldn't stand the 2011.

With the 14 I also drive it in tour mode most of the time but the suspension/steering wheel stiffens a bit in Sport and of course Track mode witch should never be set while driving on the street. When I was shopping for a C7 I was looking for one with mag ride but wasn't a deal breaker. I was more concerned about the colour and trim package.

My '15 Z51 has mag ride. I decided to spend the money on the Z51 and mag ride and opted for the base interior (1LT). Personally I prefer to spend the money on the performance bits. As far the ride goes, I can definitely feel the difference between settings. One other thing mag ride gives you is the performance traction management which may or may not be important to you if you plan on tracking the car. Personally, I just think it's a lot of value for the money (though I may feel differently at replacement time).
Whatever you decide, I can guarantee you you'll love the car and it will give you performance way beyond the abilities of a non-professional driver.

I decided on a Z51 with MSRC based on feedback from the forum. Given I DD my car, I really like the ability to tune the suspension based on my mood. Particularly on longer drives when I want something smoother. Or if I'm hitting the 401 and I want to be in Sport, I get the benefit of dampening adjustment if I hit a pothole.

The other feature getting more exposure in the C7 forum is PTM Wet mode. With Z51 and MSRC you get PTM (Performance Traction Management) and eLSD. I was at a parking lot mini track event last week in the rain and this mode is insane. It kept the back end in check all day. I use it for driving in colder and/or rainy weather now.

Z51 on city streets is harsh because of all our potholes.

If you do highway you are OK

From what I've heard though, the C7 with Z51 is not as harsh as a C6 or C5 with Z51.
