my asking price for a C7

Does your owner's manual actually say 91 is recommended for the LT1?
I wanted to run Shell 91 and Costco 91 in my C7 because of the lack of ethanol in them. If I want to run 93 or higher I need to run Esso 93 (which is hard to find and has ethanol) or Ultra 94 (which has ethanol)

I'm sorry to dig up this old topic but I wanted to ask what year is your car Al? The owner's manual for my 2018 now states that 93 octane is recommended. It does say you can use as low as 87 but performance will suffer.

i use Costco all the time, runs great. If i load up on Shell 93, runs better.
but does not call for 93.

Shell is actually 91 but I'm glad to hear yours runs well on it as that's what I'd like to use most of the time since there is a Shell just 3km from my house.
So you're saying that the 2016 manual says that 91 octane is recommended, not 93? My 2018 manual says 93.

What is this 13% savings you get by trading it into a dealer? I'm lost on that one.
Also, $55K seems like a very low sale price. Should get sold very quickly at that price. I'd probably advertise for ~$63K myself for that car and be able to give a bit of negotiating room.

Hey guys, sorry to highjack the thread. I also had a ‘whats it worth question’. I’m considering selling my c7 private. The dealers have been giving me some really low trade in values. Unless it really is that bad. I’m not sure. Anyway, here’s some details....2017 1lt coupe, manual, 3300 kms, Black Rose paint, full front end paint protection, black wheels, carbon flash body package with wickerbill, NPP exhaust, looks brand new still. What do you think it’s worth?
Thanks so much!

If you sell a car privately for $20,000 that is all that you end up getting. But if you buy a car for $60,000 and the dealer gives you $20,000 as a trade in value, you only pay tax on the difference ($40,000) instead of on the entire $60,000, therefore you are saving $2260 (which is 13% of $20,000)

It's funny this topic was brought up to the top today as I just got back from adding gas to my wife's car at the new Mobil station in Erin Mills (it used to be a Loblaws gas station) and they have Esso 93 octane there! That station is always priced lower than others by about 7 cents (right now it's 119.6 per liter vs 126.9 everywhere else) So this gives me another option for my C7 in the hot summertime (the rest of the time I'll continue with Shell and Costco 91 octane)

You guys are lucky, we effectively get dinged with two taxes on everything here, 8% for PST and 5% for GST (now they just call both of them together the HST though) That's a pretty massive savings for you guys when buying a big ticket item like a new car!
