I did not want to start a new thread, but geeting too many plans that are US based and no hood to me. I do appreciate the feedback tho.
i need to find a new carrier for my cell phone, have looked at the suggestions on this thread, but i now they have expired, talked with Costco and they offer all the major ones. best i can find so far is $90 + 2gb, unlimited canada calling and texting, am looking for something with a bit of US time in a plan. Not sure if i want to venture off with Koodo and Fido and Rover and who have you. As someone stated earlier in the thread, they are 2nd fiddle and may not get the speed and plan i m looking for.
i like the one Infernobuster has,
"Found a plan from Bell its 6 Gigs per month, with a full coverage north american long distance plan, unlimited txt, unlimited pic, call display.
$85 per month. "

FWIW I went with a Rogers plan (from Costco) and feel the price is competitive. As I also spend a fair amount of time in the US, I really like Rogers' "Roam like Home" plan which provides all the same features I use in Canada for just a $5 (CAD) daily rate while in the US.

We use TELUS. they have a plan that covers Canada and the US for $75 per month. Since we spend winters in AZ it's the best we could find that suits our needs.

I'm going to need a plan like that when my wife and I start spending our winters in Florida in 4 years time.
Your best bet is to find the best cell phone plans available to people in Ontario.
Then call your cell phone provider cancelation dept.
& see what they can do.
Looks like only Telus & Bell has Canada & US plans, that are available to the general public.
If you spend time in the US a lot, try getting a seperate US cell phone provider like T-Mobile.
PS: Make sure your phone is up to date that supports VoLTE & VoWiFi.
US cell phone provider Verizon is shutting down their 3G network in the end of 2019.

& they increased the maximum billing, per monthly billing period from 10-days rate to 15-days rate.
= $70 to $105 Cdn
am leaning towards Virgin mobile right now. Still doing some research. There are spin-offs of the major companies but some of them don't have the coverage and the things I'm looking for
My bro in law bought a cheap phone in Florida & a pay as you go plan, I believe. The phone stays in the family & who ever is going down takes it, & last one downbrings it back at the end of the season. Perhaps not the most ideal, but it works for the 3 families that use it. One year, my wife had an American chip put in for around $20 & bought a pay as you go card. Did the same in Sweden & worked great for us .

We've had Virgin Mobile (owned by Bell now) for a few years now & no complaints or issues. We use a "family" phone in the USA. See reply above.
