Thought I would pass this tip along. I purchased an item for my C7 from the states. The only option is UPS for shipping (I hate UPS). I received an email that I owed $26 Cash on Demand at delivery and if I pay before delivery through their website I'd save a $5 fee.
My wife is an avid shopper and said not to pay. Sure enough (probably due to COVID), they left the item on my front step and didn't ask for payment.
My wife has taken this approach with at least a dozen orders through UPS this year from the US. Fingers crossed we dont get a bunch of follow up invoices. Thx for the comment.
Did they say what the new extra fee was for?
Was it for Customs?
I can’t recall which one (UPS or Purolator etc) but they would charge extra fees for going through Customs. Add any Customs Fees on top of that!
Even if it was Duty Free. They would ship all out of country shipments to one place for clearance (Winnipeg If I recall) and charge extra for it because their system unlike the others could only handle it via the one Clearing location. The others would ship it across any border crossing and did not charge extra for it.
Does that sound like the same story?
if I could remember which courier it was I’d warn you not to use them.
We used to ship parts in on a regular basis with a car parts business I had at the time and learned this very quickly. How to get screwed by a courier!

I ship the the US all the time. UPS is THE WORST. I avoid it at all costs and advise my American customers to use ANYTHING but UPS. They even "lost' one of my shipments for 3 months.
You will get a seperate bill for "brokerage". This is in addition to the already paid shipping and duties paid. I hate this company with a passion.
Hi guys. Sorry for the delayed response. The value of the item is about $100 CAD. The UPS slip shows the fee as brokerage however duties were already included in the purchase by the vendor.
My hypothesis is these are the regular crazy UPS fees and with Covid they are trying to collect online so their drivers are not contacting people in person. The driver just leaves the item.
