WTH?…..C6 Prices!!!
Hey corvette forum,
Getting the itch for a C6 again (been in the S550 Mustang camp) but would like to get into another Corvette.
I was checking AutoTrader and Kijiji and couldn’t believe the prices of c6s!!! I understand user car prices are up, but these prices seem completely unrealistic.
Are folks really paying these prices? I have seen the ads, most are over 6months on market. I’m seeing dealers with ls3 base cars for low 50s!!!!😯
Am I missing something?

We are now in "Prime Time" for sales of used Vettes.
IMHO - head over to the Corvette Forum - C6 For Sale forum, and look at the prices / descriptions for what has sold recently. I can't see there being much more accurate info available.

I sold my 2007 Z06 10 years ago and now if I want to buy it back the asking price is $10-$15k then it was back then.
sellers market is very strong and has been for a few years now.
I elected to bite the bullet and got aC8.

Asking prices are still stupid high, but the market is softening. Find a private seller and make a respectable offer. If you approach them in a polite way, and they truly want to sell, I think you can buy a car at a reasonable price
If you’re intent on not paying more than pre-covid prices then I think you’re looking at waiting until the end of this driving season or maybe even next year.

My son bought a 2008 Z51 6 speed with 85k on it for $29,000 in October 2022. Since then the prices have just been climbing and climbing. Again not sure if they are selling but asking prices are nuts.

And, you should only search PRIVATE SELLERS, because dealer asking prices won’t give you any useful reference points.

Wow, thanks for the replies guys! I didn’t expect quite the large amount of replies. Sounds like I’m not the only one.
I’m interested in this car, but my goodness…..the price!!! For a base 1lt coupe!!😯

The best seller is a private person who can tell you the history of the car, has receipt’s for service and repairs and is motivated to sell. Dealers will sit on cars in inventory for months asking stupid money until some poor unaware guy comes along who knows nothing about these cars and overpays

Price aside , I would not buy a Corvette from a dealer who can’t prove it was traded in to them. Dealers get used cars off the internal dealers auction site, which ordinary folks can’t access. These cars usually have zero documentation, no service records, etc. They may have a carfax, but unless the car was serviced at a Chevrolet dealer, you won’t find any service history on the carfax.

My base 2010 was only $51,000 BRAND NEW in 2010, when our dollar was on-par with USD. Sorry, but ~12-13 years later, that car shouldn't be the same price as new!?! (...it's not a classic '69 or something that's actually "worth" something and has appreciated that much over the years!?).
I'd wait for the Covid "wave" to subside a little further.
