I've come to the conclusion that cleartastic is a flawed product. It may be fine for a car never driven in the rain I'm not sure. I was told to wait until it got warm, rewax, rewash the cleartastic and reapply. Even after doing all this there are air bubbles that can't be removed no matter how hard I try. In addition, every time it rains dirt gets under the cleartastic and it starts pulling away from the paint.
So now to my question, what's a good alternative? Is there another product out there to protect the wheel wells and side of the car that I can apply myself?
3m xpel is a semi permanent and smaller pieces like wheel wells can be installled by a novice. It is a pain in the butt so I recommend having a professional do the install. It is about 50 bucks for the ww kit. What ever you do do not attempt the bumper or a large piece yourself. I did my ww's myself and they look awesome. If you have some water/alchohol bubbles when you are done LEAVE THEM ALONE, they will eventually evaporate and gfo away in a few days. I even made some larger custom pieces for my front ww's since I felt xpels were to small.
www.xpel.com There are alot of vendors that sell the exact same film but cut slightly different. Xpel seems like one of the more reasonable ones. Stonguard offers more coverage but at a price.
Speed Lingerie Cover as it will match color of your car and has mesh screen

The mesh screen protects your condensor and this cover also protects your foglights and side marker lamps. The cover is high quality and can absorb a hit. Very thick material to the tune of 600+
I don't think the 3M or X-pel is thick enough to protect against a rock that is heavy.
