Default Buffer help...

I know another buffer question....I have read most of the buffer threads on here, and have a question.

What would be a good buffer to get for someone that has NEVER used a buffer before??

I heard a couple of stories that if you hold the buffer wrong against the paint, that it can take off the paint from the car. I'm not sure if that is true or not, but i'm tired of waxing my cars by hand all the time and want to try using a buffer instead.

Thanks for the help!!!!!!!!!!

Porter Cable Random Orbital Buffer 7424 or 7336.... youd have to try really hard to do any real damage, and yet even the professionals consider it a great tool for use. Stay away from rotary buffers and wool pads and you should do fine. Many have asked the same question, and then came back to say how wonderful the PC is.

Everyone has to start sometime...
The PC 7336 with the appropriate Lake Country pad is the way to go. Make sure you start with a finishing or glazing pad until you get the hang of it. Let the weight of the machine do the work. DO NOT lean into it to put pressure on it! Follow the instructions from
www.bettercarcare.com
www.properautocare.com

You'll be just fine.

Both the 7424 and the 7336 are great buffers. As I understand it the 7336 comes with the counterweight for the 6 inch backing pad. I bought the 7336 a couple months ago with backing pad for $90 on ebay. I would say you have to really really try hard to damage the paint. Try it and you'll love it!

Per Mike Philips, detailing expert from Meguiars... apply 4-5 lbs of pressure to the Porter Cable while working in polishes & cleaners.

Trust me, you need it and it won't hurt your paint.

Here's some how to vid's that may be of interest.
