Hey, the weather here has been really hot and humid lately. I was wondering something. I know it's better to use a synthetic wax over a carnuba wax because it holds up better to heat. But i also know that carnuba wax gives a deep glossy color. I was wondering about how it would would work for me if i would wax my car with the synthetic wax first and then add a layer of carnuba wax after. Never applied two layers of wax on my car before. Does anyone else do this? They synthetic wax i use is Meguires NXT, and the carnuba is Mothers Carnuba Wax. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks....
Have 1 suggest.
Usually you need cure time in between applications of any kind of sealer or wax because you will remove what you just put down. Only one I know that you can go back to back with is Zaino, and it requires there accelerator be used in conjunction.
Sealant --> Carnauba : well established, standard Rx. Works great.
example: Wolfgang sealant, then Pinnacle Souveran
I think it's a mistake to use a carnauba first, then a synthetic sealant. The question is whether your sealant will ever bind to the surface if there is already a coat of carnauba wax on the top. I dont think the NXT would work well over top of a wax -- you'd probably just be losing most of the NXT when you wipe off. The result : lost durability of your sealant.
Try the NXT first, then the carnauba. I love NXT. Don't know if the carnauba will add any gloss above that already supplied by NXT, but no harm in trying that. Always wanted to try that myself - but just before I was going to try Meguiar's #26 over top of NXT, I got lured over to the Zaino Kook-Aid party.
By the way - I've got to say -- this Wolfgang High Gloss Sealant is fantastic !!! Did a black car today -- wow, what a fantastic smooth, gloss finish ! It seems to work GREAT even on top of 3M imperial hand glaze -- I don't think the stuff in the glaze impairs the Wolfgang sealant at all. Great stuff.
