I have been a forum member for only 2 weeks, but in that time I have been convinced to try something new. About 6 weeks ago, I ordered over $300 worth of stuff from Griots Garage (Yes, I feel for ALL the hype they had printed in the catalog) and I am NOT impressed not happy with it at ALL....and that was before I became a forum member. I just called and got authorization to return all the stuff (except for the MF towels and PC bonnets). I will have a huge refund coming to me (I do like the thing they call Speed Shine) and I am going to spend it on......ta da......Zaino. So once the dust had settled, and I get the new stuff, even though I have read countless times how to use this stuff, I will be here asking for a refresher. After my refund, I will also explain which PC pads I have to make sure I have the correct ones (some from Meguiars and a couple from Griots) and if I don't, then once again I will follow the advice expounded here. My '78 is black and so is my (new to me) 2000 vert. I can tell that one of the previous owners must have run it through a car wash hundreds of times. In fluorescent light you can see MANY little scratches, so I hope the PC Fusion will take most of them out. The 2000 is my daily driver and the '78 is a show car (which I drive to the shows). I will keep you all posted.

Very simple to understand:

Wash
Claybar to remove embedded contaminants
Wash
Polish as necessary with abrasive and/or cleaner to remove swirls, scratches, oxidation, etc.
Apply Z2 Pro or Z5 w/ ZFX
Finish off with Z6 or Z8 if desired

That's the exact same process that should be used with any product line out there.

I tried the Zaino Fusion last week on my black Vette...using a foam applicator. Actually, polished the car 2x with it. In the end, I was satisfied...Fusion removed about 80% of the scratches. I am now in the process of applying the multiple Z5 coats.
Whether I could have achieved even better results with the Porter Cable and a different brand of polish...I do wonder.
There are plenty of knowledgable people on this forum (some professional detailers), who could probably offer some other suggestions to achieve your goal

I just put on my first coat of Zaino last night (will post a full critique later) and must say, I don't think you will want to use the PC with it. It really does just wipe off. Besides, the motion that they suggest does not lend itself to PC use.
