The Porter Cable 7424 is without a doubt the best DA orbital buffer on the market today. For years I used the industry standard rotary machine. Lets face it at that time, and for years, nothing else existed.
With the older type rotary units the operator had to be extremely careful or disaster strikes. The easiest thing to do was burn the paint, especially near a crease or sharp edge.
The new DA orbital buffer, because of its design, makes it virtually impossible to damage the finish on your prized possession.
I've had mine for a few years now and will never go back. Fatuige is another component when using the larger rotary buffer, something else that's non-existant with the DA orbital buffer.
The link below does a fantistic job of explaining it in detail. I don't see aprice there but they also provide a link to Porter Cable for more information.
To answer your question, no. I started using the Porter Cable unit several years ago and really never looked back. I wasn't aware that Dewalt made a DA orbital buffer.
My post probably should have said "DA orbital buffer" vs circular or rotary.
I really like my machine. I bought it on-line several years ago, can't remember exactly from whom though. The biggest improvement was the introduction of the hook & loop system for pad changes.
