I'm new to this whole buffer thing and was wondering if you have to or am i just being stupid and you have to use bonnets over the pads, don't want to mess it up my first time.
Just not enough surface area on the bonnets for me. They load up too quickly, and I end up having to use a couple. The towels just work better *for me*.
I also don't think you should bother with bonnets.
they're just too small. Imagine taking the wax off your car with a towel as small as a 6.5" bonnet -- you'd fill it up with wax and need about 10 more just to get the job done.
Just use a soft cotton towel and turn frequently.
I DO like using a black pad with PC 7424 for wax application -- makes it SOOOO much quicker and easier than by hand. Probably not necessary for Zaino, nor for NXT because they are already effortless to apply by hand, but for any carnauba wax, the 7424 is a godsend.
Bonnets, IMO, are not made to remove LSP's. There better used after the LSP has been removed, and you want to buff or remove any remaining oils. This is a misconception about their proper use.
When using products very rich in oils, such as Blackfire, Megs #7 or something similiar, remaining oils arent necessarily a bad thing. You want to allow the surface to absorb all the oils it can. What I like to do it use the bonnet the following day, to remove the final surface oils remaining.

hey - that's a great tip -- thanks for the post
got to file that in the mental vault, but I keep losing the key anyway I do like the Meg #7.
