Default Does anyone actual wash their C6?

I have had my C6 for 4.5 months and I have never gotten out the hose, bucket and sponge to wash the car. I am wiping off brake dust and dirt with Mother's Showtime every couple of days and Rejex every couple of weeks and it suddenly dawned on me that while the car always looks great, I have never actually washed it with soap and water.

I guess the question is if one keeps current on detailing is there a need to ever actually wash the car?

If you keep it in the garage and keep a regular detail schedule, you should never have to actually wash your car

I think you have to wash the car often. Road dirt on the car should be washed off instead of just detailed off. IMHO if you detail road dirt (other than just dust) you rub the grit into the paint and cause small scratches. Washing the car with a car wash like Zaino floats of the dirt and does not scratch the car. Just my 2 cents worth. I wash my car ALL the time!

No! Never!

Just kidding. I wash it when needed with soap and water. Detail in between. Dust with CA Duster.

In that case You need to turn me in to CPS.

"Corvette Protective Services" that is. Because by your rules mine is getting abused. It gets driven everyday so there is certainly dirt to wash off.

When I took it on a road trip back east I washed it every morning before I started out One day when I hit snow in Alb. it got washed 3x in one day.

Normally it gets washed gets washed once a week at least.

Its a car! My wife says I am anial for washing inside the wheel wells, but I treat all my cars the same. My daily driver cost as much as the Corvette, so why should I treat it with less respect.

After 3 tries, my dealer finally satisified me with my paint issue, so now, I, too, am a little **** about washing the car. I power wash the exterior, fender wells, and undercarage to remove as much road grit as possible before ever touching the paint. Then I use Mequires car wash and sponge, with lots of suds, rinsing the sponge in a bucket constantly. I final rinse using the Mr. Clean Machine ion filter with a through soaking. Then use a California Squeegy to remove as much water as possible. So far, so good

If you don't use your C6 then your method works just fine. For those the actually drive their C6 then washing is necessary.

Heck I wash mine after it sits in the garage for a while. The static charge seems to grab alot of dust and I believe it is easier and better to rinse it off with the hose and dry it than to get that dust off with detail spray or even a California Duster. As some others have said it seems to me you end up grinding the dirt against the paint when only using the detail spray to clean it .

Can't help but think that wiping off dirt and road grime with a cloth vs. rinsing with water would eventually scratch the paint.

Other than getting caught in some unforeseen rain event, I do the same thing. Plus when I do "wash", I get a chance to spray the inner wheel-well with brake dust remover and rinse out the stuff I normally can't get to!

I wash mine about every 4 weeks. Much too dusty in the area. Can't allow my baby to get dirty.

Drive it, wash it, drive it, wash it.

I can't see why getting prepared for a wash and completing one is a big deal. I actually enjoy being sure that everything is clean, with 3 cars I wash one nearly every other day.

I only washed my C6 for the first several months after getting it last summer and carefully watched for any scratches. Never showed any after many washes. It was suggested to me by a guy who has show cars that I should just detail it often and never wash. That's what he does to his cars. Well that was a big mistake. I have very fine scratches everywhere now. You can only see them in the right sun light, but they are there. I am back to washing now and detailing a lot less frequently.

How are the spiderweb swirls on that? Do you see lots of them in the sunlight?
