Hey guys, just a quick question on what you would use to get rid of minor swirl or polish marks in paint. Nothing major, and the meguires 3 step followed by NXT wax usually does a great job, but if I look at my hood or decklid in the right light I can still see the swirls and scratches (very faint). Would clay work to remove them, or have any of you had luck with anything else?
You probably want to post this in the car care section or the admins will move this soon enough.
To answer your question, the clay bar won't remove swirls or scratches. It will only remove surface contaminants from the paint. To get rid of the scratches you'll need the services of something like a Porter Cable random orbital buffer and something like the Menzerna or Zaino polishes to actually buff the scratches out of the clear coat.
A must have cleaner/polish that works very well within most lines, and great when used in conjunction with other Megs products. When used with a PC random orbital, you will notice an immediate difference in your paint.
yep - you HAVE to buy a Porter-Cable 7424. Read about it in the various posts here, and buy the kit at THE GEEK -- they'll tell you everything you need there.
