The previous owner of my 99 coupe kept a radar detector on the dash. Problem is now that the detector is gone the glue/adhesive he used is still there. I've tried the following to get the adhesive off with no success.
1) Goo Gone. Nothing
2) drops of boiling hot water and a rag. Nothing.
3) hair dryer. Nothing.
I'm also going to try a steamer to see if that does anything, but if that doesn't work what do you guys recommend?
I think you should try paint thinner, try WD-40.
But watch out -- try applying a little bit to an inconspicuous part of that plastic first, like under the glove compartment - try to make sure that it won't discolor the plastic, before you go soaking the dash in it.
my guess is that it will do no harm, and you'll slowly be able to dissolve that glue with paint thinner -- just keep rubbing over it back and forth over and over again , with paint thinner in a T-shirt cloth.
