Parked my 06 Black MN6 coupe today in a hospital parking lot, full sun, south Georgia. Apparently the sprinkler system came on and when I got back to the car the front end was covered in bad waterspots. Just washed the car and waxed with Meguiars Tech wax but the waterspots are still there. Does anyone know of a product/technique that will remove the waterspots but not kill the shine. Thanks

Not that will do both BUT.
Vinegar will take the waterspots off slicker than spit. Then you should probably rewax.

I've used a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water in the past on a black 2005 Jetta and it worked great! Smell is not anything to be proud of, but the water spots will be gone. And definetly re-wax!
There are many things that might work. I have this problem on my wife's black SUV that stays outside under a sprinkler all summer . What I've found is
if NEW spots, meguiar's scratch X and terry cloth towel will remove them. An incredibly mild product - will never remove scratches, but is good for this.
with spots baked in , etched into clear coat for 3 years, by hand, had great success with 3M #39002 and terry towel.
a porter cable 7424 would make the job much easier - a great tool to have.
just my opinion- urine (yes some guys try that), vinegar, CLR and other cleaners just don't work - have tried them all - don't waste your time.
yes, if you have meguiar's #6 cleaner wax, it's worth a try as well - is sufficiently abrasive to remove light spotting
the SUV AFTER a thorough washing, with permanently etched spots:
after 39002 by hand:
since then, I use a porter-cable for stuff like this, and have really had great success with Menzerna Intensive polish. Something to think about when the time comes, or if you are interested in removing scratches/swirls at some point.
Before you do anything that might remove your wax finish - and with the hope that the water spots are surface discoloration of water residue over the wax - you might want to first try one of the detailing touch up sprays such Zaino Gloss Enhancer or Mothers Showtime. These are intended for removing fingerprints and dust between waxings and may well do the job and restore your well earned shine. Good luck.
I've read your post again and see that it is not clear to me whether you got the water spots before or after you waxed. If before, disregard my previous post. You will want to wash thoroughly with Dawn to get down to the paint again to remove the spots under the wax. Then you will have to wax your car again. Before waxing, you could then go through the Mothers (or equivalent) 3 steps: cleaner/sealer/wax finish if you want a superior finish. The cleaner will remove any residue of spots if not removed by Dawn. Hope this helps.
