Default Help with VERY small scratch marks.

Hey guys, I've noticed some VERY, VERY small scratch marks on the finish of my baby. I have two coats of Zaino on her now. It's a 2000 with about 14K miles on it. The only way to see these small scratches is to look at the reflection of the sun in the paint, then you can see a few hairline scratches around the reflection. Z-5 doesn't seem to have made a dent in getting rid of these after two coats. However, it has improved a larger scratch above

My question is, are those scratches in the paint itself, and UNDER the clear coat where I can't get at them? I was at a car show here three weeks ago, and noticed that EVERY C5 had these hairline scratches on them.

Just being picky...... :D

It could be either, if you have to look that hard to see them probably no one else will notice, I say just keep using Z-5, does not sound like enough problem to whip out the abrasives, you might have more scratches there when you are done.

67, Are you sure you're using good quality towels. When I first started using Zaino the towels I had were not the quality that I thought they were and were putting small swirls all over the car. :mad

I'm using a set of towels I got from Target. I bought the fluffiest kind I could find. I've heard that Fieldcrest is the way to go. Where can I get those easily?

Towel info:

Cannon & Fieldcrest make a lower quality version of their towels for
K-Mart, Walmart and other big discount chains.

These towels say 100% Cotton but that is not, totally true. The nap is
100% cotton but the backing material has polyester blend in it.

So if you press a little to hard on the towel you can get some fine
scratches or swirls.

The point I'm trying to make is if a Cannon or Fieldcrest towel is
selling in a discount store for $6.00 or less (approximately) it is not
the good stuff.

I buy all my Cannon & Fieldcrest towels in the Bath & Linen shops in
the bigger stores in the mall. I pay anywhere from $10 to $20 per towel.
These are the real deal. I buy about 3 or 4 towels and they usually last
me about a year.

Now for you guys that may have already purchased the lower price towels.
Look carefully at your paint finish when you are using your towels. If
you are not getting any swirls or fine scratches, then you are okay.
Remember it's better to be safe than swirly.

Another problem I'm seeing is some of you guys are using powdered
detergent to wash your towels. Powdered detergents contain granules that do not fully dissolve in the wash cycle and get trapped in the nap of
the towels, these granules will scratch your paint finish.... Only use
Liquid detergents like All or Tide. Also do not use Bleach or any kind
of fabric softner.

You must use only white. Not colored towels.....Colored towels are not
to be used because the dye leaves a chemical residue on the paint
finish. Always wash your towels first before using. Use Liquid detergent
and rinse twice.

You should cut the selvages(borders) off the perimeter of the towels.
This selvage contains nylon and polyester stitching that could possibly
scratch your paint finish. The towels will fray a little once this is
done. But it's better to play it safe.

Drying the towels on high heat will make them hold a static charge. I
use the regular heat setting and remove them a little damp and let them
air dry. You can fluff the towel real good when it's dry to make it
softer.

As the towels get older they will lose there nap and absorbency and will
have to be replaced.

Hope this ends any confusion...

If you want your towels already premade then, that is what I do, here is my info:

I have two kinds of towels, both white color only, edges removed and re sewn on a special machine called a serger with all cotton thread to prevent ravel. I have Fieldcrest Royal Velvet and Fieldcrest Charisma, the Royal Velvets are great but the Charismas are heavier and softer.

My standard towels come in a pack of 2 sized 20 inches by 28 inches approx., one pack of Royal Velvet is 15.00 and one pack of Charismas are 18.00. I can do special orders, full sized towels, 2 to a pack, or 4 to a pack(each pack contains the same amount of toweling, just cut different)

If I know how many you want I can give you an order total with shipping.

I take credit cards online with http://www.paypal.com or people mail me checks. If you want to order online with a credit card, let me know as I have to send you a funds request from my payment service.
