Default Mom Needs Help!

Alright, I am about to run out to Autozone. I dont know what he wants me to get, but he said he wanted to wash the old wax with dawn and use a clay bar, buff, polish, and wax it. He just got out of school and is taking the corvette out tomorrow with his girlfriend.
He asked me to get him a clay bar, and polisher. And asked me to come on here and ask these questions. Here they are.
  1. ** He wants to use a dual action buffer to remove swirls and small scratches (what should I get him to use with the buffer)
  2. ** Polish the Car before waxing (Is that the same as buffing?)
Now along with those questions, *I* just was wondering wether using a "clay bar" can hurt the car, cause I don't want my husband to get mad and it sounds like it might hurt the car. Some of you might know better than me whether he is skilled enough to do this. Thanks.

Only Clay I recall seeing at Autozone is from Meguiars.
Clay won't hurt the car as long as car is properly lubricated.
There is polish and then there is wax. They are two different items.
In your case polishing is not buffing.

Clay is a great benefit and very little harm with occasional use. (we even offer one that can be used more often, Ultra Clay). As for the buffer, you really need to consider the PC. You can find one locally at Lowes if wanted, but unlikely to find good pads and polishes. If you must buy locally, I suggest the Mothers Line.

If you choose to order ... consider a kit. Can have it early next week if you order tonight, and I highly suggest the Poorboys kit.

If he uses the claybar properly (with lots of lubrication), it should be safe - have his dad do it with him to learn about it and share time together.

Auto Zone carries the Mother's Clay Bar Kit. I bought mine there and it works great. It comes with the spray detailer to lubricate the surface for the clay bar.
