These kits are usually high dollar marked up versions of paint sealants (synthetic waxes) that you can purchase elsewhere for less and usually get equal or better results. Stick with some names you can trust. After all we all now know how little teflon helped in car care, and that was big thing the last couple of years.
it was 10 bucks and is a clear bra type product like cleartastic for the bumper and hood. I am all for watchin out for us fellow forum goers,
( and our dollars, especially when they are going to, god forbid someone else ) but lets give this high dollar product a chance in the free market, if it sucks, it was my ten bucks and I will post it if is sucks or if its cool it looks like a good thing for us vette owners, and we win. ( oh sorry vendor , we buyers win )
For $10 may be worth a try.
Be aware, though, that if it is a plastic - type protector, CUSTOM CUT and FIT is everything. I wouldn't buy anything myself that was not specially made for my exact car. I've seen some bad results from Cleartastic imitators that were not specifically cut for the C6, for example. It's a shame that Cleartastic does not make a product for the hood and front bumper. Their new C6 kit is excellent and invisible - because it is custom made just for the C6 -- but it only covers the wheel well areas, and rocker panels, not the rearview mirrors or front bumper area.
I'll definitely be looking forward to your review - please take some good pics for us
I have a 2007 Coupe on order with tentative 7/19/06 NCM pickup date. I am very interested to know what you think of XtremeCity and what it takes to the kit on. They have a how to install DVD available for $12. Do you recommend buying it?
I would like to put it on before I drive the car home to Austin, TX. I seem to be one of the unluckiest drivers when it comes to paint and windshield damage when traveling.
car is in shop for active handling fix, the kit came today and I am not going to open it till I get my vette back from the dealer, it wont fit on the malibu maxx loaner they gave me
I am taking NCM delivery on a 2007 Montey Coupe on July 19. I want to be able to put the kit on in Bowling Green to protect it on the trip back to Austin, TX. I am also looking at color coordinated splash guards (only if no drilling is required), X-pel headlight and foglight lens protectors, Colgan and Speed Lingerie bras and Clearistic. The big problem I face is putting the stuff on in the parking lot. And to think, I'm paying $490 NCM delivery for all this grief!
ok NOW that I tried to mount the kit I can safely say you get what you pay for. I found the plastic cut was a little funkey and it seemed like a blow dryer would never make it fit....bottom line it is now protecting the bottom of my GARBAGE PAIL GET IT? Don't get it
thanks so much for your post -
this is REALLY helpful to the rest of us.
I've taken a chance on some products before and lost -
one that comes to mind is the "sequential turn signal mod" for the C6 --
but when you lose, it's not a total loss if you can share with the rest of us, and prevent your buddies from losing.
I took the advice of one of the folks at the NCM and ordered a front bumper mask and mirror covers from c5creations.com. He told me that they are easy to install and he uses them on his Vette. When traveling, he removes the mask every night, washes it and puts it back on in the morning.
I am trying to find splash guards that don't require drilling holes. I have a friend that has a set of clear guards but he can't remember where he got them (Sounds like me. I CRS either). I would also like to put plastic lens covers on the headlights and fog lights but I'm afraid I will encounter the same problems you had with the plastic mask.
It should be lots of fun putting all that stuff on in the NCM parking lot!!!
