Varnish - Solution
My wife and I went on vacation in Sedona AZ, We get woken up on Sat to the sound of a sander. I go outside and this guy is sanding the handrails. Go out later and recognize the familiar smell of varnish. I wait until he finishes and go and check her Durango (2005 silver). No Varnish on the paint.
Well, apparently Picaso came back for a second coat and flung vanish on the passenger side rear door (about 20 drops). I did not find it until I got home and washed it about a week later. I tried a couple of different chemicals and it wouldn't come off.
That was Apr. Today I got out every chemical I could think of and tried to remove it. Obviously I didn't want to ruin the paint so I tried everything in a very small area.
I tried : Carb cleaner, starter fluid, wd-40,engine degreaser, Goof Off, mineral oil. Nothing worked - so I went hunting through all the spray cans and found some generic Kroger brand Oven Cleaner.
I dabbed a little on with a q-tip and it changed color instantly. I wiped the oven cleaner off and checked the paint. Everything was good so I dabbed it again and wiped a little harder and it came off.
So - it is a little extreme - but the oven cleaner worked!
