Default In between washes

Not sure if there is a topic on this already or not, but forgive me if there is. It's been about 4 or so yrs. since I've had a car to baby. I have a C6 'vette and heard there are certian types of waxes and what not to use on the car cause of the way the paint is. I need to know if there is something out there that I can use on the 'vette that will help get stuff off the car between washes. Stuff like smudge prints and the like. We are planning on getting a car cover soon, so that will help out. Also, this 'vette sees the sun (Florida sun mind you) everyday, as we live in an apartment complex.

I have used Meguiar's Detailing spray before on my '95 Formula when I had it. I usually only used it when I was at car shows. I want to make sure the same stuff that I used on my Formula would be ok on the 'vette. Thanks for any advice.

Get your hands on some Adam's detailing spray...ideal for touch ups, windows, chrome etc. I'm not a vendor, just a user

Check out www.zainostore.com, they have EVERYTHING you need and it is 100% safe for all vette paint, actually it is safe for all types of paint. You will want to get the Z6 Detail Spray as it is the best QD I have ever used. Pick up some Z8 also, this is a Spray Seal and is like a QD on steroids. Use the Z8 after every wash and it will prolong the life of your cars polish. I would just pick up one of their kits with everything in it and you will be set. His polishes, tire dressings and leather products are also some of the best on the market. Do a search on Zaino, there is tons of stuff on here for you to read about it and IMHO it is the best there is. Once you try it you will never use anything else.

You are right on the money as usual. You will love the Z6 between washes and the Z8 brings it to another level. Z2 Pro is used like a wax and is simple to use. Don't be intimidated by Zaino. It is simple and user friendly and your car will look terrific. If you don't like the product I'll buy it.

Most any quick detailer (QD) will work for your needs. Just make sure the paint isn't too dusty/dirty.

If you have dust, use a Cali-Duster before you wipe it down. If you have dirt, just go ahead and wash it...

I use to have a Cali-Duster....loved it. I need to get another one. That and the wipe blade to get water off real quick. Something I used when it would rain at shows.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll look into the Zaino stuff. I've heard lots of good things about their products.

If you get another duster pick up the new "Mega" duster California just released. It has a longer handle so you can reach all the way across the hood and has strands all the way around the duster so you can spin it in order to do the sides. It is also much plusher. And make sure that when you use it you use NO pressure, you should just let the ends of the strands barely touch the paint.

yes, I really like Z6 in between washes for dust.
I'm still a fan of Meguiars quick detailer as well - it's a great product.
keep a bottle of either one in your trunk to get rid of bird bombs and such , as soon as you discover them.

I use Adams Detail Spray on all my vehicles.

Adam’s Detail Spray is the most versatile component in any detail kit. This “Best of Show” winner is a favorite at car shows. Use as a waterless car wash, a clay bar lubricant, or to enhance the depth and clarity of paint, chrome, plastic, aluminum, and glass. Specially formulated lubricants gently remove dirt, smudges, and grime, leaving surfaces with a smooth, ultra-high gloss finish. Use in the sun or shade, and in hot or cool temperatures.

When I got the car I claybarred it and applied two coats of Rejex.

A couple months later I put on another coat.

It just keeps shining as well as any product I've seen on the same color.

The only thing I've needed to use to QD it is a spray bottle of distilled water and sometimes a little Mother's or Meguiar's QD.

Question: Meguiar's QD doesn't feel as slick as Mother's when I wipe it off. Any significant difference in the formulation that would account for that?

I can't comment on Mother's but I have used the Meguiar's Quick Detailer and it doesn't feel slippery to me at all, and I swear it's just scented water. Adams Detail Spray on the other hand makes the surface feel like you've just waxed it.

All finish protection products wear off in time and Adams is no different but I think Adams products are the best available today. I've been using them for the past 18 months and in my opinion so should everyone else. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

I have to agree with you. That's the great thing about RejeX; QD is optional. I just use purified water on a spray bottle, and it works just fine whenever I have to use it which is rare. Still slicks, and shiny after every single wash. Not bad for around <$15.00 to get great durability, and unsurpassed protection against water spots, bird drops, and any common road contaminants found today.

I tried rejex for a while and in *my* case, I found that it didn't protect any better against hard water spots (water from sprinklers) and was almost useless against bird droppings which still etched into the paint.

As for using a QD while using rejex. Why would people use just water on a vehicle that has light dirt. The whole purpose of a QD is to help lubricate the dirt so it won't scratch your finish while removing the dirt. Since water has no lubrication benefits, your at risk of causing micro-marring on your finish. I would rather stick to a line of products that were developed for automobiles specifically and one that carries a full assortment of products that compliment the finish I'm using.

The best UV protection money can buy is Glare Professional Polish. It can take heat up to 600 degrees. It has no petrolium products in it so fingerprints are a thing of the past.

Take a look at my Avatar picture to the left of this posting. That's what Glare looks like.

I don't use water as a QD to remove dirt. I just wash the car every week. I keep the purified water handy if I need to clean off a bird drop, or any other stuff I may pick-up on the road.

You're probably the only one I've ever heard that has not had any success with RejeX in the protection against water spots and bird droppings. That's not a conclusive indication it won't protect against water spots, or bird droppings.

If applied as directed, and don't use anything else on top of it, or under it, it should protect your paint well. It's a stand-alone product, and in my case, I don't see the need to spend more money on an assortment of other products that won't benefit me in any way, more than what I'm getting by using RejeX alone. Granted, a true QD is good, I'm not saying or implying not to use one, I just simply haven't had the time to test the ones normally recommended here. I tend to believe that a good QD that will be compatible with RejeX would be something like Glare, FK425, Z6, JK Glos, Adams' or some other QD that are used on a line of sealant products. At best you need just one QD.

Hopefully, I will post the results of my RejeX test this week -time permitting. I never experienced any hard water spots, or any paint damage cause by any contaminants in 13 weeks. As they say, people may experience different results, which is pretty much directly related to how much knowledge people have in detailing basics, which I'm about average I think, but good enough to know how to apply my products.

Actually that remark wasn't directed at you goose, others have mentioned using water as a QD. I seem to remember you mentioning that you use plain water to wash your car and on occasions use soap, which is not a good idea either. as it can also cause scratching.

Ok, so I'm curious now, if rejex protects against bird bombs and water spots, why would you carry a bottle of distilled water to remove them ? If rejex is going to stop them from etching your paint then there wouldn't be any need to remove them ? Seems you're talking in circles.

And just for the record, I'm not talking rain spots, those come off easy. I'm talking hard water spots that get baked into the finish in the sun. I haven't found ANY product that would protect my vehicles from that. If you do a simple search, you'll see others mentioning that they had similar issues with rejex not protecting their vehicles from bird bombs and hard water spots.

What you want me to do, drive around town with a big splash of bird poop on my car?

And please...don't start any of your bs with me again. I'm over that. Thank you-Goose

Ok goose, let me rephrase it so you can understand it better.

Is it your statement that a vehicle coated with rejex will prevent a bird bomb from etching the paint if left on the finish over a period of time ?
