Default Armor-All

My wife wants to put Armor-All on the tires , the dash, the seats, basically everywhere. I hear this stuff can actually hurt your car?
What's your opinion?
Thanks in advance

It was reformulated several years ago to a water-based dressing. It's fine to use on rubber, plastic, vinyl, etc.

AA is cool, if in moderation, I don't like sliding around everywhere...

I have used this for years. It works best for me.
It holds up even in the Vegas heat. I use it on tires & interior, even the sim metal trim.

Not to hijack, but how's the slippery effect of this stuff? Doesn't leave that slimy feeling whenever you touch the ash does it?

Never used this...

I used even the very old stuff for about 10 years on a previous convertible - no damage at all to the console, dash, etc. Never had anything dry out or get cracked, despite stories you hear (even with the old formula that I guess was mostly silicones).

But when I joined this forum, I tried 303 and really liked the look MUCH better -- not sliippery, don't get that oily layer that attracts so much dust, and not super-shiney (which you don't want on your dash if you're driving in the sun - you can't see !).

I don't think AA will do harm, especially since re-formulated, but I do think you'll be much more satisfied with the look of 303 , but that is a personal preference. For exterior I do not use 303, but use other things that have more durability.

...I also like the 303 better than ARMORALL. It lasts longer and won't leave that greasy dust attracting appearance. I use a leather only product on leather, like MEGUIAR'S or LEXOL. I also use PLEDGE, (for a lemony fresh smell) on interior surfaces of vinyl or plastic.

I don't use AA. On my tires and outside plastic, I use Zaino Z 16. When dry, it's not sticky or oiley feeling. On my leather seats, I use Zaino Z 9 cleaner and Z 10 conditioner. I just wipe down my dash. I don't like a shinny or sticky dash.

I use AA Ultimate Clean - cleans like you wouldn't believe and leaves a satin finish, not slick, greasy, or shiny like the regular AA does.

I am not a fan of the sticky/ultra shiny look so only used the AA Ultimate Clean on my last car (MR2 Spyder), and was very happy with the results. I've not used it yet on the Z06, reading through all the recommendations first to be sure I’ve the best!

I use it to bring out a lush look to the sim leather & it does.
I use it lightly on other trim. works great on shoes as well.
It does not give me a greasy feeling on the interior.
Its how you use it.

Have you guys seen that TV Show called Unique Whips?
Well, the guys at the Unique Autosports that's all they use. So, judging by the fact this is a high-end shop, it speaks volumes for AA. Not to say AA is the best they could've found, since money talks, but they wouldn't put their reputation on the line by using a product that wouldn't deliver what they're looking for.
Now, I have done a side-to-side comparison using 303 and VRT, and the VRT wins hands down. The 303 is a bit tricky to apply, it doesn't always apply evenly. You have to follow up with a damped towel as it leaves high spots, like some parts are shinier than other on the same pass. The VRT is one pass and it looks more uniform. The 303 is a bit tricky to apply, and it's a good product, I just don't like the fact that I need to be looking from different angles to see where I need to touch up, or hit it with a damped towel after I think I'm done.
I use 303 on the outside trim of my Z06, and VRT on the inside where I need to cover larger surface.

EDIT: I forgot to elaborate a little bit on the tricky ways to apply 303; you have to apply equal amount of the 303 on your applicator foam. If you apply more of it on one side of the surface of your applicator than the other that would transfer just like that on the surface you're applying onto.

It's called advertising, endorsement, sponsorship, etc. It's just tire dressing to the guys at Unique.

That's what I meant by "money talks" AA runs a few TV ads during the show.
They used AA on the inside of Jason Giambi's Escalade last time I saw the show.

Yea, they also use impact guns on very expensive wheels (someone must have clued them in, I see the new shows they stared using a torque wrench), wash cars in the sun and other armature techniques, spray paint interior parts outside with dust, leaves blowing around with cigarettes hanging out of their mouth. They are a bunch of hacks if you ask me. I watch the show and get a kick out of it. The only guy I would let touch my car is Reme.

Haha!`I noticed that too on the last show, where they have this guy install a set of nice wheels with an impact wrench. It took him 45 minutes for that one wheel!

I dunno if I just got a bad container or something but I won't put the stuff in my car because of the terrible smell.
