Default Porter Cable Differences?

What's the difference between the 7424 & the 7336SP? On the PC website, the spec's look identical.

They are identical. The only difference was the counter weight. I believe I read some where that they were changing the counter weight to be the same in both models as well.

The SP model comes with both sander and polisher accessories. Get the 7336sp.

Just out of curiousity, do most members use these to aid in the application of polishes such a Zaino instead of doing it by hand? If so, is it worth 110.00 bucks as advertised on Amazon?

The nice thing about Zaino as well as other polymers is that it goes on and comes off VERY easy by hand.

Most people are using these to correct paint issues such as swirls, scratches, etc... using some sort of an abrasive product.

Now that you have all the prep work done, it's a piece of cake. Try spraying your applicator pad with some Z6 before applying your product. It should just glide right on. Once you get the hang of it, you should be able to cover your entire car easily in under 30 minutes depending on how many breaks you take. Removing it is even faster.

My PC is mainly used for applying polishes.... to remove spidering and swirls.
but I admit to also using it for applying paint sealants and removing them...

PS... that's Rejex on the paint

There's no way to get faster than Zaino by hand. Just tonight, took me about 20 minutes to apply a coat of z2 - will take me 10 minutes to get it off. No need for the PC.

But the PC is a nice tool to have , only if you decide you really want to work on swirls or scratches. Even then, although it is safe, it is VERY slow to get the job done on the hard Vette clearcoat. But always nice to know you have one. Go ahead and stock up your garage now - but be sure to take a look at Autogeek first - their kits (about $180) when you do all the math, will usually be a better deal than buying all the parts separately at other stores.
