Default Using the Porter Cable buffer

I am considering buying the Porter Cable buffer, the only wax/polish I currently use is MacGuires NXT Polish. Can I just use that or do I need to use a different products?

You can use NXT with your PC without any problems.

You may also want to pick up a good Scratch and Swirl remover to use with it, there are tons of good ones on the market. Do a search on here and see which one sounds like it wll work for you. A few brands that I like are 3M, Menzerna and Zaino.

I use it with NXT all the time, just make sure you're using a good white or black pad and not a yellow or orange pad to put it on with.

Might look into Meg's step process.

Paint Cleaner (orange pad)
Polish (white pad)
NXT (white or black pad)

I'd claybar it first too for premium results. You'll be happy you did.

You can use the PC with NXT as it has calcified kaolin and is a light cleaner. You will get more from your PC by moving to dedicated polishes however. Consider a line of polishes (XMT, Poorboys, Clearkote) that will work well with NXT and help to bring your finish to the next level.

As offered above, the proper prep of your finish will make a dramatic finish (pun) to your car. Consider the basics ....

Wash ---- Clay ---- Polish ---- Protect

wouldn't waste money getting a PC to apply NXT.
it goes on so easy by hand that you'll gain nothing by using a machine, except wasting a lot of product that just soaks into the pads.

Use the foam hand applicator that comes with the product.

Likewise with removal of NXT, you'll find that it's more trouble to take out the PC, put on a pad, and plug it in, than it is just to wipe off the NXT with a towel.

I say don't waste your money on a PC unless you REALLY mean to remove scratches, swirls, --- and in that case you're not going to accomplish that with NXT , you'd need abrasive products that are mentioned above.
