clean engine
I usually wipe it down with a wet rag (using degreaser where needed) and when cleaned I go back over it with a microfiber towel sprayed damp with some Dirtex (get some at Lowes) for a nice dull shine. Always do the battery last as it may have acids on it which you don't want to spread around on your engine parts.
Here's a few engine bays I've done with the process I just described.

or do a 'search' of this forum, cause I think it may have been covered once or twice before
also my two cents - I like Stoner's Trim Shine for those tiny little places that you cannot reach -- just spray everything that is rubber or plastic, and this will give it a nice shine - no need to wipe if off or buff. Spray and walk away.
