I received my Menzerna IP & FP-II today with orange & white pads. I just knew this was going to remove the etched spots and tiny pits in the clear coat. Excitment is at a new level. Washed & dried car and tried out new products where I recently clayed (before washing). Must say it was an improvement but not what I was looking for. Still have etched spots but not as bad. I've not been successful finding someone that wants to try and remove the spots (I thinks mainly due to inexperience). What do ya'll think the next step should be? Wet sanding? Wool pad?
I would try a rotary next, and if that does not work go to wet sanding. If they are etched real bad you may only be able to minimize them, sand a small spot first to confirm they can be removed before you spend the time to do the entire vehicle.
most definitely - rotary is the best thing since the invention of the Pizza. Take a look at the Makita 9227 - recommended by agentf1 and many other detailers to me. Coastal tool usually has some good prices.

excellent advice. Not only to make sure you can get the spot out, but that your method for "buffing out" the sanding marks is effective. Most definitely if you go the sanding route, try a small inconspicuous area first. I only use 2000 and 3000 grit wet sanding paper, nothing more coarse than that.
Many good how-to's on wet sanding are out there . Here's one.
