Default Clean wheels

Does anybody have any good tools/techniques for cleaning the inside of your wheels (the part behind the spokes) without taking them off of the car? I have used a synthetic house type duster and it works pretty good on light dust but when the dirt gets heavier, like after driving in the rain, the duster does not have enough cleaning power.

I use a flexible wheel cleaning brush I picked up at K-Mart. Seems to do a pretty good job. I have to be careful not to bang my knuckles!! And remember to roll the car a half a tire or so to clean the area hidden by the brake calipers.

Wheel brush from Walmart...
I have two types. One that is broad and sturdy, the second is more like a bottle cleaner and will fit bewteen the caliper and wheel

Someone suggested a toilet brush to me once, but I'd think it would be a bit abrasive...

Are you guys using these wheel brushes dry or with cleaner and/or water? I'm looking for something that's like the equivalent of quick detailer on body work. Just a quick clean up without having to wash and rinse.

It's a lot easier to clean the backsides with the car on a lift...

I've found that applying a wheel wax works wonders. You can pick it up from any of the online retailers. It only needs to be applied every month (say every 2 washes), and repels brake dust and road grime alike. After going through the PITA ordeal of getting the rims in good shape, all I have to do now is hose them down with my foam gun and rinse!

I pulled the wheels last Jan and put 2 coats of rejex on them. I then wash them with a soft brush that reaches all the way in. I use a hand mit to wash the back side of the spokes, then roll the car half a wheel turn and get the areas that the brake calipers blocked. I have the factory polished wheels on my 03.

As mentioned in post #7, I am looking for a method or tool to clean the inside of the rims quickly. (between soap and water washings) Like wiping a little dust off the paint with quick detailer.

I use a wheel cleaner, an old wash mitt and my hands. Get in there and get dirty! When I'm done with a detail, aside from the shine, the clean inner-wheels are the first thing my clients usually notice. And they love it.

Yeah for a detailer or a perfectionist (i am both ) This tool is a MUST It works so well. It even fits behind the front calipers on the C5 and C6 wheels.

I use a soft toilet brush and soapy water. I've had the wheel cleaner that was made for my clear coated wheel stain the clear, never again.

Tony,
Once again the forum comes through! That brush looks exactly like what I was looking for. I have already placed my order with Autogeek.
Do you usually use that brush dry, or with what liquid?

Thanks again

Beautiful - Thanks guys!! They are right!! (And yes, I just ordered one!!)

If there’s a quality tool out there, it won’t take long for Corvette owners to find it! The EZ Detail Brush has become a favorite tool of Vette owners because it reaches parts of the wheel that were previously inaccessible. The soft bristles are completely nonabrasive and the flexible stem allows the brush to go where no brush has gone before!
