Car Drying w Leaf Blower ?
I've been reading alot of people use leaf blowers to dry their cars. I like that idea. My question is, since I'll be using this just for the car, what size should I buy. I've seen 140 MPH all the way to 250 MPH. These blowers are electric, and the higher the MPH the bigger and heavier the unit, so I don't want overkill. Any suggestions. Thanks
Just tried this technique out and love it. I would however wipe it down as much as possible first and then use the blower or you may be spending some time on it. Just my opinion though...
Get the electric Black & Decker BV4000 at Lowe's. It's rated at 230 MPH, weighs just 8 lbs and is only 69.97. I have it as well as a few other members on the forum and it works great for drying vehicles.
Toro 51591 - 215 mph, 7.3 pounds, electric. Had mine for about 1 year now, very happy with it. A great aid to detailing. I'd suggest you get something 200 mph or above. Sure would not consider anything that is over 9 pounds, when such good units like this are availlable at lower weight. It does get heavy when you're holding it over your head.
I use a 225 MPH Toro. It cost about $50 at Lowes, is pretty light and works great.
I blow dry the car and then get the last few drops with a waffle weave towel. The whole process takes about 10 minutes.
you got a good deal.
I used to think there was something wrong with these guys that would blow the car dry, but once you start doing it, you'll never go back. It's a big help. Still have to go over it very briefly with a ww towel and my Z8 to finish up. But this takes all the hassle out of it, and prevents the drips from my mirrors.
I bought a Toro variable speed at Home Depot rated at 225mph. At first I thought it was a PTA to use, then I got the hang of it. It now not only saves time but with less wiping I get less swirls.
I have a Craftsman (best thing for a black car) I think it has 225 MPH.........its also pretty light...
Battery operated sounds like a cool idea....
I have the same blower and got the additional 2 year warranty because I blew out the last blower I had the first time I used it took me an hour to get all drops off.
You still have to use a microfiber or California water blade in addition to blower otherwise you will be blowing for at least one hour.
All you guys that have to use a towel after use of the blower, Guess What? Your choice of wax is probably "NOT TO GOOD" I have Rejex on my car and my wife's SUV and I can blow them both dry in no time. With the Rejex wax on them, the water fly's off with "zero" spots left on the car. By the way, I don't work for or sell Rejex, just a happy customer...

Well mine does that and I have over 10 coats of Zaino on my paint finish. Blower gets most of the water off but to completely dry it's about an hour unless I combine microfiber and California water blade with blower.
