Default Cleartastic

I was going to buy some Cleartastic protectors from Mid America. Anybody have any comments on how well they work.

Do they stand up in the touchless car wash OK?

Do I need the 12 or 14-piece set for my '03 coupe?

Thanks

I had them and got tired of playinhg with them. I also did not like seeing the seams. I broke down and put the X-Pel kit onmy wheel wells and could not be happier now.

I had just the piece that goes on the rocker in front of the rear wheels on my 02 - seemed to work good. So, I bought the full set for my 06 coupe - very disappointed. Lost one of the pieces behind the front wheel on my first highway trip - proceeded to loose all but two of the pieces. I was very carefull with following the instructions on installations. I would bet they would come off in a touchless carwash. Also, seemed like I was always trying to remove bubbles.

This question comes up every so often. There are drivers as above who've had bad experiences, but there are also tons of loyal and happy users. I'm a dedicated fan of cleartastic myself.

I did lose one piece after a year, and to this day I think someone pulled it off. I've not lost any pieces in a 1000 mile trip at 80-90 mph in pouring rain last fall. The price is also fantastic, and you're not making a committment to a lifetime adhesive product. Take it off when you want, put it back on in 5 minutes when you want. So I'm really with this stuff.

At least for the C6, a new kit came out in 2006 which has no seams at all, vastly improving the appearance.

The greatest thing is that you spend something like $60 - a fraction of what the adhesive stuff would cost, and if you try it and don't like it - just peel it off in two seconds.

When you have a chance, take a look at my new web site: http://www.bugmanweb.com I'm just starting to teach myself xhtml, so it's a new project for me. if you go there,
  1. click on corvettte
  2. click on "cleartastic"

and you'll see plenty of photos.
here's an example - very difficult to see the horizonal line of the cleartastic - but if you really look, it is there, about 80% of the way up the yellow box:

my vote is to do it - great stuff

And besides, agentf1 doesn't even OWN a corvette - he's just a 12 year old computer hacker who get's on this forum after his parents have gone to bed at night. So don't listen to anything he says.

(just kidding )

addendum - forgot to say -- yes, though I have no problems driving, you CAN dislodge a piece with a strong jet from your hose (also a car wash I would presume). Best to wash it yourself, and just don't purposely jet the seam of the cleartastic.
