Has the car been sitting out in the sun when you applied the QD ? I know that with a lot of QD products they prefer a cool surface. On a warm/hot surface they can and will streak.
Black Magic is on the low end of the product spectrum. I haven't used it as a QD, but rather a lubricant for my claybar.
Meg's and Mother's make some good over the counter QD products.

I figured it has something to do with the brand. Never tried them before and i wasn't too impressed with the turtle/meguires so i figured id give them a try.
I've used four different kinds--Maguiar's QD, Maguiar's NXT, Griot's Speed Shine, and Zainos--indeed, have have some of all four still around.
M QD has great lubricity, works fairly well, and is my favorite to use for as a lubricant for clay. M NXT is more expensive and I don't see any advantage. I really like Griot's Garage Speed Shine for use with wax. I has a convenient sprayer and you can get it in gallon sizes for a significant savings. Good lubricity and easy clean up and leaves a nice finish. I've recently started using the Zaino detailer, since I have become a Zaino convert for my Corvette (still use Carnuba on the wifes MB). I'm very happy with it too, except that I do a wipe down after every drive and since you can't get it in bulk, it is fairly expensive. Like Speed Shine, the Zaino Z6 detailer removes easily and in my experience tolerates going on a warmer car than the others.
If you are getting streaking, you are not wiping it off soon enough. Do a panel at a time, even less if the surface is hot. If you do streak, you can always get rid of it by misting the surface again with the same detailer and wipe down immediately.
yeah. you definitely have to be fast with this stuff. Gives a new meaning of wax on wax off. i have one towel in one hand and the dry one in the other. boom boom.
i think that black magic was just junk if the NXT works fine. One of these days I'll spree for the zaino package but right now it just isn't high on my list of things to spend money on.

Here's a little tip for you. You can cut your Z6 detail spray with 50% distilled water and it still works great since it's pretty concentrated. I've been using it that way for the past year with outstanding results. It's like getting 2 bottles for the price of one.
Yeah. Went and traded the black magic for some meguires NTX or something like that and it works much better.
The most expensive brand there was the new ICE by turtle wax i think. Anyone tried that brand?
I saw a new ICE kit sold by Turtle Wax at Costco but I didn't notice to bother looking at the product or if there was anything in the kit I wanted.
QD's work great to remove stuborn polish on car or remove water spots.
I really like Sonus Detailing Spritz (www.autopia-carcare.com) and a microfiber towel. It'll remove light dust and leaves my baby smoother than a , well, a baby's butt
I use QD all thw time. The trick is to use it very sparingly and do one panel at a time.
I don't use Mequires. I know most people like their products and I'm sure they are great but i've never had much luck with them.
I just got some Maguiar's QD, that works pretty well. You think I could water that down and it would still work well? More important question: Are these quick detailers a substitute for a car wash, I mean can i pretty much use this stuff on my whole car, and its washed and thinly waxed? Thanks

QD is not a substitute for a car wash.
If the car is dusty from sitting in the garage then a Very light pass with a California Duster followed by a QD wipe down works wonders.
If the car is dirty then it is time for a wash.
I also use QD when wiping the last few drops of water off of my car with a waffle weave after a wash.
I've been using Adams detail spray and really like the stuff. It smells great and I've used it in the sun and shade with excellent results. I've recently switched to Zaino and have been using up what I have left of the Adams detail spray. It comes out great! Works good on glass too.
I have used dozens of bottles of M QD and love it. I guess you can call me ****, because I wipe my AE down AFTER I drive it each time. In four years I probably have not washed it over 10 times. It stays clean and garaged until I decided to drive it.
..........QD is great, not a substitute for washing, not a substitute for waxing, just a great way to keep it clean(er) and shining.
