Default Zaino drying problem

I had a difficult time with my Zaino drying this past weekend. All the products that I used were purchased last year. I started by claybaring my vette and then mixed up 2oz of z2 with 10 drops of zfx. This amount always gave me 2 applications last year, this time I had to mix up another 1 oz to finish. I was putting it on a little heavier on purpose. It was 85 degrees and the humidity was not high. I really had trouble with both applications drying, it was not applied thick, I was trying to get consistant applications. In removing the residue some areas were not dry and were very difficult to remove. I wound up leaving some swirl like streaks in some areas. Continued rubbing reduced or eliminated them. The only thing that I can think caused this is that my zfx mixing bottles had all been used and although cleaned, there was product haze inside all the bottles. I just can't get them any cleaner, I can't get a finger and rag inside the opening. Looking for any thoughts and help. Thanks

My friend you are using too much product. You should be able to use 1/2oz at the most for 1 coat on a vette. Do you spritz you app with Z6? This will help the product spread thinner.

Try wiping an area down with Z6 and see if that removes the rest of the product. If not then a clean water-damp towel. A Z7 wash should work if all else fails.

2 ozs for 2 applications ?

That would explain the extended drying time. Think of it as if you were spray painting an object. Several lighter coats is a lot better than 1 or 2 heavy coats.

You should be able to get 3 coats out of 1 oz of Z2 or Z5. As gmblack3 already suggested, try spritzing your applicator with a few shots of Z6 then apply your zaino. It helps you spread it thinner, which will allow it to dry faster without streaks.

In the event that you have streaks you can either wash the entire car with Z7 carwash, or use a spray bottle filled with distilled water and a microfiber towel. A few spritzes of water and a quick wipe and the streaks are gone.

WOW 2oz of z2 gets me 5 coats on my z06. You are using way to much product.

I got 5 coats of Z5pro out of 1 ounce on my Jimmy (you can read the thread below). You should apply then WHISPER thin (almost can't see it until it hazes).

I hope you get the idea, you are putting it on WAY to thick!!
If you used 3 oz that's enough for 10-12 coats!
Give it a good Z6 wipe down and put on a very thin coat.
In your temp it should dry almost instantly. Good luck.

Two oz's is enough to do a dozen coats or more. No wonder it didn't dry. Try mixing 1/3 of a bottle with 3 drops and that should be enough to do multiple coats on just about any car.

Boomr

In regards to cleaning your mixing bottles, try this.

When you're finished applying your Zaino, if there's any left in the bottom of the bottle, pour it out if you used ZFX with it, never put it back in the original bottle.

Pour some Isopropyl Alcohol into the mixing bottle and put the cap back on, shake it for a minute or so. Pour it out, then rinse it with hot water and a little shot of Dawn detergent. Works pretty good.

If you still have a slight haze in the bottle, don't worry about it. It hasn't messed up my Zaino applications.

Just as an FYI, you can pick up small plastic bottles in any Walmart. They sell them near the shampoos and soaps. Just look for the small travel sized items and you'll see the empty bottles. They also have some great small spray bottles for spritzing QD's and such.

What he said. Ive used one bottle about 20 times and still going. I use the Isopropyl Alcohol and then use a small piece of paper towel in the bottle and move it around with a screw driver. Bottle comes out really clean.

Good stuff (and re-assuring), that's just what I did recently to clean up my mixing bottles (just wasn't sure about the film left inside though). Hey also, I recently found that the Bed Bath and Beyond stores have all kinds of little bottles for mixing, different sized spray bottles, microfiber pad cleaning tools w/handle, etc. Alot of neat stuff in there.
