Default First time with PC

Thanks to everyone who has posted information on this forum!

Ordered my PC 7424 from Autogeek a couple weeks ago. It came in earlier this week, but I haven't had any time to use it. Ended up with a couple of extra hours yesterday and today, so I washed and clayed my neglected Subaru yesterday, and today went at the paint armed with my new PC, Zaino Z-PC and Z5p, and Wolfgang (orange) and CCS (white) pads - And lots of information from this forum, and Autogeek's.

Here's the results...

Before:

After:

Not bad for the first time! Just had enough time to do the hood today. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get to the rest of the car. Thanks again everyone!

hey -- those "after" pics look excellent - no swirls visible in the halo near the sun. Looks like you've done some nice work!

I'm interested to know how hard the Subaru clear coat is ? I think you're implying you used the orange pad? what speed / what polish?

nice work ... a valuable tool (the PC or UDM) to say the least.

Hi Scott - Thanks - I really appreciate your ! Not sure how to guage how hard the clear coat is... this is my first time at this :o

I used the orange pad with the PC set at 5 initially. But after buffing it out afterwards, I realized there were still some slight blemishes in the paint, so I went back and went over it again at 6. I probably should have used a more agressive compound, but the Z-PC is what I had, so I figured I'd give it a try. I didn't apply much pressure - was too worried about screwing it up!

the Vette's pretty much in perfect shape - I've been pretty careful with is since I got it. There is one spot where the paint's a little scuffed up (something embedded in the paint during transit, and marred the surface removing the foreign materials), and I'll probably tackle that once I've finished the WRX... Assuming everything works out with the Subbie of course!

Since I only was able to do one fender, one door, and the roof today, it could be weeks before I'm finished up though! :o

Hey it worked out great ! I just like to keep mental notes. I'm not a pro, but on the limited number of cars that I've done, My Vette clear coat is definitely the hardest. When you do your vette, start with this same regimen - if you have very mild paint defects it will work out well. But for deeper scratches, you might want to have some Menzerna Intensive polish on hand as well.

I've really gotten to like Z-PC more and more as I've learned to use it properly. Great stuff, and wipes off perfectly clean. Cheers !

Is that your vette's little sister? I couldn't resist! The WRX's are SSSOOO CCUUTTE!! (Don't listen to me, I have a '92 S10 with possessed windshield wipers for a daily driver!)

It looks like you're doing a great job! Keep up the good work

Actually, it's the baby brother!

And who are you to give me a hard time... aren't you the one who tested out their compounding on his inconspicuous hood?!

Oh... wait... I did that too...

Seriously though - the WRX is my Vette for the winter... Since we always get lots of rain, and a couple of months of icy conditions up here, I had to keep an all wheel drive car around. For me there's no better performance car value for winter driving than the WRX.
