I took the wheels off and scrubbed, hand washed and then waxed inside barrels. Since then when I wash wheels I use a long handle toilet brush with soap and water to clean barrels. Works very well.

When cleaning with a brush, I find the rear ones fairly accessible. The fronts are more difficult because of the size of the rotors and calipers. After cleaning the forward half that is not blocked by the caliper, place a 2 x 4 directly under your side view mirror, and back up till your tire hits it. This rotates the wheels exactly 180 degrees so you can clean the other half.

Go to Walmart and look in the automobile cleaning supplies section and they have a brush thats about 10 or 11 inches long with a handle on it, I just got mine about a month ago, they are grey and blue or solid grey in color, this thing is gentle enough to clean without scratching but strong enough to get the job done, it will even fit between the caliper and the barrels on the front wheels so you don't have to move the car while your cleaning, it was only a few dollors if I remember.

I bought that same brush at wal-mart and it does a great job...in addition I have used my power washer, capable of 1750 psi to get in there and blast the dirt away...

If you use Rejex on the inside and outside of the wheel, dirt and grime wipes off easily.

I am able to just reach my hand in there with a rag and wash them. I can get about 90% of the wheel this way...it's just part of the wash process for me.

Twelve responses to a cleaning question, and no one has mentioned Zaino yet. This may be a first! LOL.

There was a post awhile back where they painted the inside of the wheel black. I thought it looked good and much easier to keep clean.

This brush works super - does a great job on the 12" rear wheels and I can even get it in, around, and between the calipers on the front - leaf blower to dry and a rag to finish it off - priceless.

The wife just got back from wallmart with the blue/gray brush. I'll try it this weekend after I get back from the tuners.

I put my cars on my lift every other wash. I clean the inside of the wheels and wheel wells easily.
