Default Cleartastic?

I'm going to give the Cleartastic C5 rocker panel protectors a shot. I ordered them on Friday last week, after calling the place first and being assured that I could return them if they didn't work out.

Anyone have experience with these things? I drive my car to work every day, and I'm just getting tired of the little nicks I pick up due to the front tires throwing stones back and hitting that spot where the rocker panels flare out just forward of the rear wheels. I've considered mud flaps, but they look like more trouble than they're worth--you either have to drill holes (yipes!) or cobble something together on your own. No thanks.

GM Kid,

There have been lots of posts on Cleartastic, I'm sorry to say that most were negative. One thing that was very clear from the other posts, "Follow the instructions to the letter."

I used 3M's Scotchcal paint protection film on mine. It's a bit pricey, but worth the costs of not having rock chips. For more info, see http://www.stongard.com The film can be purchased in bulk, and cut to fit. It's not to hard to work with and does a great job.

Report back on the Cleartastic after you've had it on for a while.

GM Kid,
I have used Cleartastic and think the product works very well. I had one unfortunate incident that was my fault. I used the “wet application” and think the fit and adhesion is great. You have to know the pieces are on the car to even see them. When you wash the car you have to be a little careful around the edges of the pieces, but it’s nice to see all the dirt and little pieces of sand and such that never made it to the paint! My advice would be to give them a try, I don’t think you would be disappointed!

GM KID,
Thanks for the purchasing our product. As C5STREET stated (above) "you won't be disappointed." The Kit you bought (C5 Frt. of rear wheel) is a breeze to put on.

The feedback we have been recently receiving via Corvette forum, E mail, faxes, calls, has been great! The only few bad responses we received in the past, were for early C5 kits. But because we listen to our customers, we redesigned those kits (Like the one C5STREET has) and it applies easier and fits great!
Sure you have to read and follow the instructions. But that's with any product.
Take care,
Ed
