I was using my PC and Orange pad with the standard quarter size amount of XMT but I keep getting little chunks of polish everywhere and even some areas on the paint that kind of smudge the polish. I have used the QD spritz before I reapply polish. I will say that it did seam to dry out quickly as the tutorials say work it for 3-5 minutes. Could I be using too much pressure? what is the correct amount?
Not sure. I'm not familiar with XMT, but you may want to spread it out on your pad more and not just a small spot in the center or the pad.
Also start it off on a slow speed like 1-2 and spread it around then once spread evenly turn it up as fast as you need it. Don't spend a lot of time spreading it or it may dry. Spread it fast and then turn up the speed.
I'm not familiar with that product either, but once you have it on the pad, spread it out on the car before you start the PC. If you still get flinging, then you are using too much.
XMT is similar to SSR and Megs polishes. In very hot and humid areas you might find it necessary to prime the pad. Spritz it once or twice with a little water. I am hesitant to say qd'er as some contain silicones and glossing agents you dont want interfering with polish. XMT also make a pad conditioner as wanted.
Remember also to shake a polish very well before use. Literally about a full minute or two as some of the liquid agents can seperate from the abrasives. You should be able to buff panel by panel for around 3 minutes on high speed with a little pressure (not enough to bogg down pad).
