Just curious if anyone has tried the liquid clay bar that is on the market, I think it is by Turtle Wax. It seems this would be easier and less prone to error for those of us concerned with using the regular clay bar.
theres not really alot of error in claying, other than dropping the bar that is. Really part is keeping the panel wet and well lubricated, and allow the clay to talk to you. When it studders this is an area to go over several times till smooth. You should never grind clay into paint, it is not meant as an abrasive polish.
Liquid clay reminds me of the waterless car wash products. Dont do it.
Clay is very easy to use aside from the part about dropping the bar and tossing that piece in the garbage like stated above. A new product on the market is the Magna Clay Sponge. This takes the place of clay and best of all if you drop it on the ground you can wash it off and keep using it. I did demos on my personal Z06 with this product all weekend last Saturday at a tradeshow here in Clearwater Florida. Another benifit of the Magna sponge you can use it with your regular soap and water, no body lubricant is needed.
Try the clay bar,,,once you see what you haven't been seeing( comtaminants in your finish that come up with the clay and how it helps the final shine, you will be hooked. Follow the directions. Take your time, dont drop the bar. Depending on the size you buy, suggestion would be to use just half in case you do drop it.
Claying is supposed to remove impurities from the paint and make it nice and smooth. How in the world can a manufacturer state that it will remove swirls? I'd be suspect of that claim.
