I've been watching the Autogeek links on med scratch removal, but I have a question

How often do I change pads? Can I get through a C5 with one orange pad?

It will vary a little bit. You can either clean the pad as you go, or have at least two. You can give it a good cleaning, wring it out, and then install the pad and turn it on low to fully dry.

this is why I prefer the Edge system, its dual sided pads. I too use two pads, (or both sides), and split the Vette right down the middle. No overcaked pads, no contaminents stuck in pads, and gives me a small break in between polishing.

I like the Edge pads as well.

I also like their wash mitt.

you'll do fine, if you are just doing one car a day (not a pro detailer) if you have two orange pads. For the most part, you wouldn't be doing the entire car in one day - you'd just be hitting the trunk or the hood when you notice they are getting scratches.

Yes, to do the hood, you can just use one pad. I'll change after the hood.

one pad to use, one pad to soak in a bucket of dawn. When you want to switch again, take the one out of the bucket, put it on the machine and spin it up to 6 - get ready for a bath, but the pad will be dry enough to use.
