Default Which Buffer/kit

So now that spring is here, I need to get back into detailing mode.

So I am finally going to get a buffer. Help me pick out a kit.

I am very happy with the purchase and the service from Autogeek

What type of buffer is needed/wanted ?? If you want a buffer for light swirls and polishing then consider the PC (Porter Cable) or the UDM (Ultimate Detailing Machine) , or Megs G110 (Mequiars). If you want something more powerful and heavier polishing then consider the Flex Random Orbital Buffer as has some rotary power.

I always suggest the pad/buffer/backing plate kit as a great start, or the Poorboys kit with buffer as also comes with polishes and waxes to make cars look great and very easy to use.

Sorry I thought I said it in the post.

I have been looking at the PC. But reading the UDM might be a better machine. But one of the kits containing either of those.

The UDM makes sense, but I have heard of some problems with the machine?
Ask the geek about this.
I love my PC.
I like and use LC pads. I recommend getting several orange and white pads.
I use Z products, so nothing at the geek. I have however used MIP, Menzerna polish as my first polish, then follow that up with ZPC.

I also will use Zaino, as I am a longtime fan of theres. So I will give ZPC a try.

So which pads would I use for that?

Some people say the orange causes micro marring, and to stay with the white.
I like the orange, but you can always start with white and see if it accomplishes what you want.
I think of white/zpc as a fine finishing step.

I got mine from a site that has the PC by itself for $99 plus $6.50 shipping anywhere in the Continental U.S.

I used MIP and white pad and I did not get very good results. I swithched to orange pad and much better. I then followed with white pad and Z-PC.

Here is a before and after:

I used the zpc with an orange pad and it did cause some marring on my black car, but nothing that couldn't be removed with a little 3m swirl remover and a white pad. However, try some Menzerna polishes. I used some final polish with a orange pad and it removed some swirls I couldn't get out with the zpc. Plus it didn't leave any marring.

It's good to hear you put it that way - give you back YOUR money. Unfortunately, most of the idiots that run our government think it's their money. Back on subject, the PC is a great machine and if you shop arround you can find them for a bargain price.
